Mount Juliet at Hillsboro

I think Hillsboro's style of play is more to Mt. Juliet's liking than Independence's would have been.  Hillsboro is more methodical and easier to prepare for because they run sets.  Whereas Independence is more helter skelter and fluid, which makes them more unpredictable.  I think if the matchups had been reversed with Hillsboro vs Station Camp and Independence vs Mt. Juliet, both the region 6 teams would have won.  But, now I am not so confident.

I still think both Independence and Hillsboro win.

Good luck to 9AAA! Get the job done. Also, I don't think anybody tried to lose much less by 40. That is just silly.

It is ridiculous for someone to say a coach just tried to lose by a reasonable number. They lost to Station Camp twice this year by 6 so I do not think that was the goal.

I am going to go out on a limb and say both 9AAA teams win.

I think Station Camp is a great team and will come out ready for that game.

MJ and Hillsboro will be close the entire game but see MJ winning this one with free throws down the stretch.

People that continue to bash Troy obviously give themselves way too much credit. How many other coaches at MJ have been to 3 sub-states and also done it back to back? The correct answer is none.  Previously had only been done once, and that team got beat by 30 as well against Pearl.  Talk about his methods all you want, but results don't lie.

And also, how many other teams had success against Camp this year? One......

Camp is a tough match-up. Should it have been 20+ both games? probably not, but when Camp shoots it at 60+% in the District Championship and your two best shooters go 1-11 in the Region Championship, they are a tough beat.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
