West beat Jeff 9-8 in 8 innings. Crazy game

Yes it was.  Even with the hitting exhibition West put on last night, JC still could have and probably should have won.  Errors and bad base running killed us.

BTW, my son is the catcher for Jeff County.  Do you have a son on the West team?

I don't. Just a long-time fan, but your son had quite a day. Jeff County held their own even with our 16 hits. It was a great atmosphere last night even with the drizzle and everything.

Will Heflin, Josh McDonald, and Andrew Bartley tore it up for us last night. Pitching depth is our problem, whereas that's one of Jefferson County's biggest strengths. I hope we get to play tonight. Go Trojans!

Thank you. I'm usually pretty hard on him but he played well last night. The top of your lineup did a lot of damage last night. Heflin was 5 for 5 and every one of them was smoked.

He played good last night.

Our bats have carried us so far. Just wish we could find consistency in our pitching. Tonight's game could really have an effect on the district seeding.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
