Stratford (Tenn.) High School cornerback T.J. Carter, who is rated a four-star recruit by Rivals and a three-star recruit by 247 Sports and ESPN, announced on a Nashville radio station this morning that he has committed to the University of Memphis.

Carter, who is listed at 5-feet-10 and 180 pounds, is the second highly-rated player from the Nashville area to commit to the Tigers in the past month, joining consensus four-star prospect and offensive lineman Obinna Eze. He listed Georgia Tech, Louisville, Mississippi State and South Carolina as his finalists and reportedly had offers from other SEC schools, Auburn and Tennessee among them.

Carter is also the third four-star prospect to commit to Memphis, according to Rivals, alongside Eze and Putnam City West (Okla.) wide receiver Nick Robinson.

"After talking to the coaches constantly, every day, it just felt like home. (It was) a family atmosphere," Carter said on WNSR 560 AM during his announcement. "Talking to, of course, Obinna every day, he encouraged me to come to Memphis, come to Memphis. And when I first went up there, it was love at first sight. I fell in love with the school."

Carter previously attended Hendersonville High School and was dismissed from the football team there after the 2015 season because of a violation of team rules. He ran for more than 1,000 yards as a junior on 142 carries but has been used more as a wide receiver at Stratford thus far.

Carter, like Eze, was primarily recruited by Tigers offensive line coach Ryan Silverfield.

"Real good coach," Carter said. "Knows what he's talking about. Very straightforward. He's not just going to tell you what you want to hear. He's going to tell you the truth. And that's really what I like about that coach."

Carter becomes the 22nd member of Memphis' 2017 recruiting class, with National Signing Day approximately five months away. The full list is below.

What's yall thoughts on the up coming game in Oxford?

The game should be competitive for a half and Ole Miss should pull away by the 4th quarter however due to their lack of run game I can see it being close going into the 4th and if that happens Memphis will win, but my prediction is a 2 TD win for Ole Miss.

Exactly how I see it. Wish I could feel as positive about it as others. My other scenario is they jump out to a lead early and we tighten up and trail them the rest of the game. Either way not the outcome I want. We are a better team in coaching and most positions over last year but I think they've got the horsepower to get it done

Well, it's not like the U of M is going to sneak up on them. They see the U of M coming a mile away. Memphis hasn't played anybody the caliber of an SEC school to date, so the U of M actually doesn't really know what they have. I think the U of M needs to sustain long drives to have a chance in this game. The U of M's defense has turned over the other teams leading up to this game. Can they turn over Ole Miss? I think for the U of M to win they will need some picks in Ole Miss territory and turn them into quick points ... otherwise ...

Ole Miss 35, U of M 21
