kwc
Lausanne 41 ecs 14 final . Melrose wins over Bolivar 53-38. Trezevant is playing Monday now. Thanks for the update. Anyone know the Catholic/BTW Score? It's not on TSSAA's score page. It's not on the CA's Preps page. And it's not on Shelby Metro Sportsblog's page. kwc
Week 9 prep football preview John Varlas , john.varlas@commercialappeal.com7:02 p.m. CDT October 13, 2016 (Photo: Chris Desmond/Special to The Commercial Appeal) With three weeks left in the high school football regular season, the playoff picture is starting to come into focus. Here is quick look at how the regions shape up heading into Friday's games. Region 4-6A: All eight teams are automatically in. Undefeated Whitehaven and Cordova are locks to host in the first round with surprising Houston and White Station also closing in on a top-four finish. Arlington, Collierville, Germantown and Bartlett will likely be on the road. Region 8-5A: The Oct. 28 game between Brighton and Bolton is looming large; those two are tied for second in the league at 3-1 behind undefeated Central. Southwind and Munford are both 2-2, although the Jaguars own a victory over the Cougars. Friday's game at Crump against Central is a huge one for Southwind. Region 8-4A: Barring major surprises, the winner of the Oct. 28 game between East and Ridgeway will be the champ and top seed with the loser finishing second. The Craigmont-Millington winner will be third and the loser fourth. Region 8-3A: Raleigh-Egypt can do no worse than second; the Pharaohs will be the favorites against Sheffield in Week 10 and finish with a surprising Fayette-Ware team that is 3-1 and tied for Bolivar Central with second. Covington (2-2) has Fayette-Ware and Sheffield remaining, while Melrose (1-3) finishes with Bolivar Central and Hamilton. Region 8-2A: Mitchell is in the driver's seat with Westwood also in. Oakhaven and Fairley are currently tied for third, and they'll meet in Week 11. Region 7-2A: MAHS and Douglass are both undefeated in the league with Trezevant trailing due to its forfeit loss to the Lions. The Red Devils have yet to play MAHS or Trezevant though. Hillcrest will finish fourth barring a major upset against Trezevant in the finale. Region 8-1A: The top four make the playoffs, and this is a four-team region. Which means the KIPP-Middle College winner in Week 11 will be the champ with the loser finishing second, and Booker T. Washington and Middleton are playoff-bound despite being 1-5 and 1-6 respectively. Division 2-AA West: All four teams are in. Briarcrest has already beaten CBHS and can take a huge step toward the title with a victory tonight at MUS. MUS and CBHS meet on Oct. 28. St. Benedict needs a big upset to escape the cellar. Division 2-A West 1: University School of Jackson has the toughest schedule remaining with games against current league-leader Fayette Academy and St. George's. The defending state champion Gryphons finish with Tipton-Rosemark and USJ. Division 2-A West 2: Lausanne is in control with winnable games against ECS and FACS remaining. Should the Crusaders lose to the Lynx, that could vault Harding up to second; the Lions have Northpoint and ECS still to play. GAME OF THE WEEK (5) Briarcrest (6-1, 1-0 Division 2-AA West) at (3) MUS (7-0, 1-0), 7 p.m. Storylines: As mentioned above, the winner here controls its own destiny in the title race. It figures to be a very interesting match-up; quarterback Jackson Walker and the Saints boast the second-best offense in Shelby County (398.1 yards per game) while MUS has the best defense, allowing just 131.6 yards per contest. OTHER DANDY DOZEN GAMES (6) CBHS (5-2, 0-1 Division 2-AA West) at St. Benedict (3-4, 0-1), 7 p.m. Storylines: The loss to Briarcrest two weeks ago was costly for the Brothers, but they can secure a first-round playoff game with a victory tonight. And while the Eagles have been playing better, CBHS has too much on both sides of the ball. (7) East (6-1, 2-0 Region 8-4A) at Millington (2-5, 1-1), 7 p.m. Storylines: Thanks to a rock-solid defense (fifth in Shelby County allowing 180.9 yards per game) and a stable of playmakers on offense, the Mustangs have won six straight. Millington has won two in a row after an 0-5 start, but it will take a huge effort to keep East from getting its seventh. (8) Harding (5-1, 1-1 Division 2-A West 2) at Northpoint (3-4, 0-3), 7 p.m. Storylines: The Trojans have the talent to pull the upset, but they'll need to play their best game of the season to do it. Harding is explosive, strong on both lines and its special teams have been terrific. (10) Horn Lake (7-1, 2-1 MHSAA 1-6A) at Olive Branch (0-7, 0-3), 7 p.m. Storylines: The OB fan base is growing restless over the lack of success under first-year coach Pete Hurt. But it should be noted that the Quistors have played the third-toughest schedule in Shelby or DeSoto County. Their opponents (Brentwood Academy, Charleston, MUS, White Station, Southaven, South Panola, DeSoto Central) have a combined winning percentage of .699. Southwind (4-3, 1-2) vs. (11) Central (6-1, 4-0) at Crump, 7 p.m. Storylines: Last week's victory over Brighton was huge for the Warriors, who have won six in a row following a 19-13 loss to MUS in Week 1. Southwind needs a victory to boost its playoff chances with an improved Bolton team on deck next week. OTHER GAMES 7 p.m.: Kirby at Bolton; Wooddale at Brighton; Middleton vs. KIPP at Fairgrounds; Westwood at Lexington Catholic; Lancaster Christian at Macon Road; Overton at Munford; Mitchell at Oakhaven; Hamilton vs. Sheffield at Halle; Tipton-Rosemark at St. George's; 7:30 p.m.: Fayette-Ware at Covington Edited October 14, 2016 by kwc

LazIndexTN
Can't stand when they move these games to Monday. Have to wait until Tuesday to calculate the rankings. Does anybody know why they switched it? This happened 3 times last year and it's always a Memphis game.
