So 9 public schools requested to move up. I wonder how the TSSAA will handle this in terms of dividing the classes. In other words, will class 1A's cutoff increase some along with other classes? Will the cutoff's stay the same but some classes increase in size?

No, the class cutoffs will not move. The classes will be uneven. Where is the list of 9 teams? Edited by TheAmbassador

Click on catcher55's link above (the three dots). I couldn't find where the TSSAA said the cutoffs won't move.

So let's talk about these.

1A is unaffected, 2A looks to be losing two teams, 3A is losing two teams and gaining one team, 4A looks to be losing five teams and gaining three teams.

Those numbers would be

1A 51

2A 48

3A 48

4A 47

5A 54

6A 49

Just imagine if they started at 1A and made the top several teams move up to the next class to "even" it out. That would cause wide spread panic. LMBO

Yes that would be terrible.  I was thinking the opposite...start moving some teams down a class since most moved up to 5A.  As I think about it more, it makes sense to keep the cutoffs as is.  Moving some teams down would mean you'd need to give everyone another opportunity to decide to move up.  The process would never end for some.

Exactly if a team was over the cutoff limit they won't let them move down. Also as of yesterday's deadline these classes are set. 5A will just be the classification that isn't as close as the other ones.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
