GB do you see any Western region those two teams could fit in?

No. Creek Wood & Montgomery Central should be with the teams North if I 40. It is 2 hours from Creek Wood to Marshall, Tullahoma & Lawrence County while also fighting Nashville interstate traffic. Add another 30 minutes to Montgomery Centrals drive if they go below I 40. Going to Jackson area would be even farther.

Then go to option 2 region 3. How far are you from Livingston, Dekalb and White House?

Yeah, that works as another variation. Have Stone and Cumberland move to Region 3 leaving 6 schools in Region 2. Move Portland & White House out of Region 3 over to Region 5.

The new look Region 3 would be:

Stone Memorial

Cumberland Co.

Livingston Academy

DeKalb Co.

Macon Co.

The resulting Region 5 would have 8 members (with no good candidates to move to Region 4):

Portland

White House

White House Heritage

Springfield

Greenbrier

Montgomery Central

Maplewood

Creekwood

East / West would be evenly split with that arrangement.

But there are losers in all of these scenarios. People understandably don't want their team to have to travel significant distances, want to maximize local rivalries, but don't want to be somewhat disadvantaged by being placed in a region with more members than most other regions around the state. There are just too many classes to be able to evenhandedly address those concerns. I almost feel sorry for the TSSAA. But, then, I'm not sure they're enough concerned by the mess to merit any sympathy -- and to boot they brought it on themselves.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
