My bet would be on South Greene to repeat as State Champs! I also thing Gibson County, Middleton, Moore County, and 2 of the 3 between Clarkrange, Pickett Co, and Jackson Co. In District 7A, anything can happen, and I could see any of those three making it, though I believe PC and Clarkrange have to be the front runners!! I do not see anyone in the Chattanooga area competing for a spot this year as Van Buren has in the last few years. 

Agreed, South Greene looked unstoppable last year and with everyone returning i don't look for that to change but one never knows.  Clarkrange and Pickett will be the favorites out of 7A  and GC, Middleton and Moore County should all have a chance to return.  I do know that Moore County changed Head Coaches so not sure what impact that will have.  Anyone know anything about their new coach?

Right now looking at the west from A I say Middleton and Gibson County. Still think the Lady Pioneers have enough to get back. But on that next tier, watch for Peabody and Gleason. They could surprise a lot of people.

I agree on Middleton out of the west but the number 2 team from the west could be any number of 5 or 6 teams.  Certainly GC will be in that mix, but without a sharpshooter and a guard that can get hers at will like last year, I think it will be an uphill battle for GC.  Peabody will be solid, Gleason will be good if they are hitting shots, and there may be two or three others that could emerge.  It is going to be a fun season!

Hamilton Heights plays by the NFHS rules, as do the T$$AA schools.  They just don't belong to the T$$AA, and play out of state/out of country kids.

GC, I saw on the Jackson Sun online scores that both Gibson County and Middleton lost their opening games. was that a typo? If not, what is your take? Did both teams just lose too much talent? What's going on over there?

Middleton should have won by 10+...they was up 6 or 7 at the half...turnovers hurt them bad...plus I personally think the refs called a bad game.

Middleton will be fine... Chelsea Perry might be the best player in Single A basketball (19 points, 20 rebounds, 9 blocks last night against one of the top AA in the state speaks volume)...

 

Gibson County won't quite be what they were last year, but they'll still be good. The loss of Bri Fields and Erin Lannom is quite a bit. Bri is playing really well at Bethel by the way. Gibson will win 20+ games and how far they go in the tournaments will depend on how well they play at that time.

South Greene and Middleton should both be there, Clarkrange might contend.I think a sleeper out of the west could be Huntington and possibly Trenton Peabody.
