Great win for the Jackets , glad we kept pounding the rock kept the time of possession away from Maplewood's playmakers and it wore on them as game went on. Great game for our kicker hitting two clutch FG's one tying the game late in the 4th and the game winner in overtime. On to the quarter finals at Pearl-Cohn. Congrats to Maplewood on a fine season.

not taking anything away from SF ..great game..but even with you guys rushing attack ..what i figured out by half time was a series of 3 to 4 effective running plays by looking at the guys in the neon vest i pretty much knew when QB counter was called or give it to #42 and on occasion #23 would slip in and do a little damage.. the defense stopped SF more than enough times.. i think Maplewood defeated themselves with all those stupid penalties they committed just my point of view i felt Maplewood still somewhat had upper hand  ..just to many bad play calls throughout the game for Maplewood ..they didn't stick to what worked for them best  on offense ..and a toss on 4th and goal is not the right call ..no matter how you look it ..and had they scored ..so what ..sheer luck is what id say ..praise no ..toss requires you to toss the ball backwards away from your goal ..which is not ideal when your are 1 yard or less away QB sneak ..that just showed the coaches had no confidence in team when it really counted ..just not the right play ..no second guessing needed ...it was a dumb call period! ..just thought i had a right to voice my opinion ..i'm not a coach ..and yes i did enjoy Maplewood first basketball game vs LEAD Acad ..front and center!

I honestly thought the lucky hailmarry pass before the half was gonna be the difference in the game. 23 dropped the interception that was easy pick 6 and springfield fumbled twice in the redzone. So i honestly thought they should have won the game by at least 14 to 21 based on how the game was going. You are right maplewood has terrible play calling. You guys had ran 2 qb sneaks that go at least 3 yrds each carry. i think you score if you ran the sneak, however i think sf would have scored if they went for the win instead of fg. it was a very entertaining game none the less. What i have seen from that sf team is nobody gave them a chance first 2 rounds and they won..nobody giving them a chance this week either. I am interested if they leave nashville shocked 3 weeks in a row.

I hope we do shock the world for a third week in a row! One thing is for sure, we are going to show up and give it a shot!

"I honestly thought the lucky hailmarry pass before the half was gonna be the difference in the game."

i did too.. it kinda swing things back around for us ..and you right it was pure luck ..ill be the first to say that..but that play was also one of Maplewood strong points ..as it was used several more times after that with good results and drew a lot of penalties ..because they had to defend it even going to double coverage on #1 .. i cant agree on a 14.. 21 point loss though ..we had turnover chances  too with onside kick to begin second half ..your guys also had muffed punt go back in your favor ..and don't forget the two touchdowns called back on Maplewood for penalties way closer than it should have been ....great game though ..i wish you guys best of luck! PC will not make same mental mistakes my panthers did.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
