The future of GCA football.....?

I'm very glad we met also, wish it had been sooner. This season has went by and in the books now but it has been one of my favorite years in a long time. When I walked out on the field after the game Friday Night it hit me that it was forty one years ago I was with my teammates for the last time together just as we were to get on the bus and head back home after a season ending loss in the second round of the playoffs when there were only three games period. Following him and this being his last year brought all those memories back and even the one's from that last game and that last bus ride. I will be staying in touch with you to keep up on what's happening there and I plan on seeing some games again next year, I hope the team has a DVD of the season because I know I sure would wear it out watching all those games over and over again. I watched the Rockwood replay the other night on You Tube as I go through withdrawal syndrome believe it or not. I also enjoyed all the other kids and watching them play also and that's why I plan on dropping in some next year to see them play again. I really hate the private ruling because I'm sort of out there on a cloud guessing who they will be scheduling and playing against next year. Also one of the things I loved about GCA was the support from good crowds and how close to the field you were in the stands and not having a track separating the players from the fans like most schools do now. Maryville and Alcoa are the same way and it's a totally different feeling.

Barney, Google "Diamond Clear Media" then click on Grace Christian and they have all the games in their archive in HD. You're a class act, hope to see you next season!

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
