AlbertPine
Exactly, dont mis read into my comments, I think MJ is the best team in the entire middle Tenn area, just on pitching alone. I know several of the players, and will pull for them the remainder of the season no matter what. My point, IF they get to the state tourney, the only thing I can see that will keep them from winning it this year, will be due to their hitting. IF it stays the way it is, IF it does not improve. Thats a lot of IF's with plenty of time left to correct it. Yes they have put some runs up, they put 7 up against us, but on 4 hits, and 4 errors, 4 earned, 3 unearned. BUT that was enough against us. IF their hitting was at the same level as their pitching, MJ would be the finest team I have seen in my 50 years. Even with all the Knoxville teams and their history. Like I said, I support MJ 100% just because I know some of the players, coaches, etc. But to win the state, their hitting will have to step up, cause you will catch everyones #1 when it comes to that time of the year......now the new pitch count rule, I think actually favors MJ, since you all have so much depth. I for one cant wait to see yall there. I see we have a lot to look forward to when we play Hville and Beach. Seems like our district is ate up with pitching. That I think is awesome. Agreed. Very strong starting pitching District. Hopefully 9-AAA has a lot of bullpen help as well. If not, East Tennessee might be too strong again. FightinIllini
My 2 cents.... the H'ville pitcher was shaky in the first two innings but settled in.... He will be a very good pitcher once he matures and adds some more strength. He gave a very good effort . MJ pitcher got in some trouble in the top of the 6th , but MJ pitcher still pitched very well, well enough to win. Sometimes when a team has deep pitching they lean on that pitching a little too much. subconsciously maybe thinking that at some point in the game we will string a few hits together maybe a walk and win the game . The H'ville pitcher battled hard against a seasoned senior however MJ stranded 8 base runners. It's still a bit early and frankly MJ has a tougher time against a slower righty or a crafty lefty than against a more traditional #1 . Agreed MJ will usually face the ace from the opposing team but I know mine would not want it any other way. Maybe this can be a wake up call for the MJ hitters and they can get it going by May. As far as the TBCA poll, who knows who the best teams are.... Arlington was very good, Beech I just did not see how they can be 2... but again I don't think at this point MJ is 4th either. mondo44
Mullins throws a 2 hit shutout as Hville defeats MJ 1-0. Coker drove in the only run with a 1st inn sac fly. Commandos will take on WC Monday night at 7. WC defeated Portland 6-0. In the Beech side of the bracket the Bucs beat Lebanon 6-2 and SC leads Gallatin 2-0 in the 5th
mondo44
Commandos see their season end with losses to WC last night and MJ today. Good year, went 22-10 and with everybody back the future looks bright. Congrats to WC as they beat MJ tonight to advance to the district title game. On the other side Beech leads SC late 7-4. Strong district especially on the mound.
MrFootball71
What's the outlook for this season? MJ is loaded once again and I would expect them to run away with it, but there are several good arms in the district this year. My pre-season ranks - 1a. MJ - very talented as always, should be strong favorites in regular season and tournament. Loads of D1 talent on this team. 2a. Wilson Central - Classy program with a long history of success and a great coach, just not sure what they have talent-wise. No doubt they will play hard for Ford, but can they compete with MJ? 3a. Lebanon - returns some talent, but always tough to compete with the Wilson Co schools. Do they have enough firepower? Sounds like Coach Vetetoe has things going in the right direction over the last 2 years. 4a. Station Camp - Anyone know what is going on here? They lost 11 seniors to graduation, best Sophomore just transferred to Ravenwood (D1 talent) and several players have already quit. With only 6 upper-classmen now on the team and a second-year coach coming off the worst record in school history, you got to wonder if something is going on? 1b. Hendersonville - Regardless of talent, they always compete. Congrats to Mike Hendrix on the HOF induction, him and Gilley will have the team ready. Know they have at least one strong arm (Soph I believe). Who will finish higher between them and beech? 2b. Beech - Know they have at least one very good arm, should they be the favorite on this side of the district? 3b. Gallatin- Made a great run last year but lost some good players. Do they come back down to earth and finish bottom half of district or can they make another run? 4b. Portland - Believe they lost their 2 best players to Cumberland Univ (congrats to K. Dixon, kid plays very hard). Are they going to be able to compete this year? The Bears finish 19-14 which was third in their division. How do you lose 14 games with that talent? Why are you sitting at home with that talent? 5 SEC commits
Preppy
Lot of quality pitching ... not a strong district though.

Agreed, been a pleasure coaching against him and the rest of the district. As most know, I may or may not be back next year. I know I wont be back 100% full time. The rest will be up to the new head coach, and it should be....Keith, I wish you all the luck in the world brother in yalls play this weekend. . Preppy
Parker resign?
SOUTHERNFRIED
Yes he did. His daughter and step daughter are both softball players. The same reason I cant be there 100% of the time next year. We both want to watch our kids play. My son plays at Cumberland, and his daughters are a Fr/So in high school. Your kids are only in high school and college once. You can coach till ya die, but this is the only time they are this age. Mr Woods, just posted his opening this past week on TSSAA bulletin board. I will still help when I can, just wont be full time.
