I have friends that have kids on this team and it bothers me for them because they are good people. I know kids grow up together and should be able to play with them through high school but kids want to win and that isn't happening there. Also there are some who have the ability to play at the next level and need exposure to do this. This is why I love Coach Mathis. He has a system that he gets video to college coaches and finds the right fit for our kids. We've sent quite a few kids off on scholarships because of him. He has also helped kids from area schools.

I wouldn't Lump Chad Barger in with the other guys. If given a chance he could turn Grundy around. At least he would do it the right way.

First I would like to apologize to ApSU7gov, the anonymous coward comment was not fair he's making a comment off what he believes to be true, and I totally respect his anonymity considering his position....

This is why I'm constantly whinging about Stats not being put in the paper... Being in the Times Free Press got a lot of kids that ran under radar from the Sequatchie Valley area enough exposure to get an offer to come to Maryville and play football Bud Christy from Sequatchie, Ryan McGowan from Whitwell, Adam Hughes from Marion... No they don't offer scholarship's but if youre good enough they'll find you money to play ball....

Unbelievable!!!   Does any Grundy supporters besides myself see this post as a huge problem??? Anyways Tate/Jones vs Nunley Twins at halftime of York... at least we'd sell some tickets than!!!!!

      Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.

      It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.

      Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
