No heresay, heard it from the horse's mouth. I get tired of hearing the old 2A versus 4A argument. That has never seemed to matter before. You had just as many guys dressed out as Macon. You were bigger and I would say faster overall. You got hit in the mouth and didn't like it. I love the fact that TC is having to say "wait till next year." That is not something you have done in the past. Macon will be down next year for sure, so TC should win the game. That is what we all thought this year as well. I will say this, TC may get "payback" next year but Macon will not run and hide like TC has done the past two years. May want to hire Macon's coach down at TC. He owns y'all right now.

Proud of the way we played the other night, but make no mistake about it, our road will get much tougher without Carlisle next year against TC and other teams as well.

Wow! You don't say? He is just the best player to ever suit up for the Tigers. As I said earlier, Macon will be down but they will surprise some people come next year, maybe even TC.

Let me say this... we play small 2A schools because we are the smallest 2A school. You have twice the number of students that TC has. So come up with a better response than TC plays small 2A schools. That's what they are. You had 9 seniors on the field one time the other night. TC had 4 sophomores, 1 freshman, 5 juniors and 1 senior playing against them. Bottom line is your one man beat them. Heck your quarterback was the man. I hope he has a great rest of the year. You have bragging rights over a 2A school for a year. Maybe that big 2A win will help you go far in the playoffs but remember, you will be playing schools your own size there.  Again wish you guys the best of luck

At one point we only had 2 seniors on the field. Our offense played with 3 seniors on the field most of the night. You were playing so many young guys because your older ones were too scared to get hit and had already asked out of the game. 2A versus 4A means nothing to me. Population is a poor indicator for classification. IMO, The 1997 TC team was the best team in the state in all classifications and they were 1A. If Macon had 80 players suited and were able to play guys one way then you would have an argument. We both dressed roughly 35 players. TC was bigger and faster. The bottom line is Macon wanted it more, their players executed better, and I do believe the Division 1 college coach you hired got out coached. I anticipate more of the same next year.

Not one of your non-region opponents is a 2A school. Whitwell and Gordonsville are 1A schools. Lebanon has essentially played like a 1A school for the last three years and Friendship Christian was a Class 1A team before going to Division II. Three of the four non-region opponents are schools with smaller enrollments. Come up with a better argument than that, because there's no truth to it other than region games, which you're obligated to play. TC called Macon to play, not the other way around. Next year will be different, I agree, but nobody cares about next year until they get there. TC should go at least to the quarterfinals because they're the best team in that region. But best of luck the rest of the year. You will most certainly need it when you face Marion County in round 3.

I don't blame you a bit for staying where you're classified. Most years you all can sleep walk to at least the quarterfinals.

We have no choice. Actually TC will probably be 1A next go around. Heck you have almost 600 more students than TC has. Shouldn't be too hard to find 11 football players every year. Question is will Macon County get by round 1? I hope you guys do because your quarterback deserves it. His surrounding cast is horrible.

Got several from Westmoreland and Trousdale too... You can make fun of that surrounding cast, but bottom line is MC beat both TC and Westmoreland without 2 starting LB's. One of which is the second best player on the team. Volstate and Posty should start up an excuse making company. Lord knows y'all got plenty of those to go around. I can't wait to hear your excuses next year.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
