Goodpasture (1-2) at Friendship Christian (2-1)

These two teams met last year and Friendship came away with a 28-7 win.

Goodpasture started off the season with a 48-0 win over a struggling DCA. Since have dropped games to Briarcrest Christian (48-0) and BGA (45-25). So a big win over a bad team and two losses to good teams.

Friendship Christian is 2-1 with a loss to Trousdale County and wins against Liberty and Grace Baptist. Liberty is 0-3 and Grace Baptist is 1-1.

I watched Goodpasture against DCA and there wasn't much to take away from that game because DCA is so bad they didn't have to do much in that game.

I seen Friendship and Trousdale in person and was impressed with the passing game from FC. And TC has looked good on defense through 3 games.

This is one of the games I'm debating on going to this week but feel like there is a possibility that FC could win this one going away.

Thoughts?

my2cents...... From what I have seen Goodpasture must protect the ball and reduce the number of turnovers.  In their last 2 games against Briarcrest and BGA they had 4 fumbles and 6 INT's.  Both games they would move the ball and then self-destruct with a fumble or INT.   Last Friday vs BGA had the ball in the red zone twice came away with zero points.   BGA has a really good QB yet again who if the Defense gives him any time at all, will find one of his WR's and put 400+ yards on you.

On a side note - In Memphis, the Cougars were lining up to punt just seconds into the 4th Quarter Briarcrest is up 41 to 0 and they pack 10 players on the line of scrimmage to try and block the Cougars punt!  The play resulted in the Punter getting knocked down and Briarcrest got a Penalty Flag for Roughing the Kicker!  This was one of the crazy things I have ever seen at a High School game.  Rushing to Block a punt when you are up 40+ points with a running clock!

Anyways, I think the FCS vs Goodpasture game should be interesting.

Thanks for your input. Will probably end up going to this game. A 10-minute drive versus 30-40 minutes elsewhere kinda helps the decision making process :)

Nothing interesting at all here IMO. Score will be whatever FCS wants it to be but I am guessing a 28-7 final. Once JM gets the lead he is just gonna sit on it and run the clock. GCS appears to be much improved over last season but I do not see that adding up to many, if any, additional wins over the 1 they got last year.

Interesting, wonder what your thoughts are on a possible matchup between FC and DA?

Initial thoughts are FCS in a tight game. O looks to be more balanced for FCS this year and that line is fantastic. Could be a fun game to watch. Can DA keep the FCS running game in check and can FCS hold down the running and passing game from DA? What are your thoughts on that potential matchup?

I haven't seen DA. But FCS has a very good passing game. I was very impressed with their passing game against TC.

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
