i am going to this game tonight on my way to Knoxville.  Two great programs and very excited to witness some playoff football. Brentwood won earlier this year 42-31 and i expect another shootout tonight. i think it will be a touchdown or less difference tonight. Independence is very well coached and will not be beat twice easily.

It was a great game, but I'm surprised at the lack of a crowd that Brentwood had at home. You'd think a program like that would have more support for a 2nd round home playoff game against an in-county rival.

As for the game itself, I noticed that Indy's offense couldn't really sustain drives, but they big-played Brentwood enough to stay in it. I didn't get a good look at the final play of the game in OT because we were standing near the endzone (near the gate so we could run to the car and warm-up as soon as it ended), but it looked like the QB tried to pitch and should have just held it and lived to fight another play.  It was one of the best games I've seen all year as a whole though. Exciting the entire time.

heck of a game  i witnessed friday night in the cold windy air....i thought independence had the best crowd and the best player on the field....however the qb got selfish in double ot and didn't give it to him on the wr in motion sweep.....should have.....very surprised no one has been on this thread.

the brentwood crowd was very disappointing. the qb for independence had been pulled early in the first half to get back into the game and lead the comeback. However he was selfish and should have just given the ball to sheffield on the wr sweep on the last play instead of trying to make a play and be the hero himself.

    • All high school coaching postions are year to year. At least in public schools.
    • Yes in the regular season. But once Westview's young kids got the experience from the season, they only lost to Dyersburg by a field goal in the playoffs. Westview was young last year. They will be tough this year
    • That is absolutely not the truth.  Few if any college coaches or school administrators want to be in the middle of legal proceedings if there is any way possible to avoid being caught in the middle.  With that being said I have two questions: 1.  Why would a coach remove any player from the team for using the F WORD?  Yes, I fully understand the player must be held accountable for her actions.  Maybe extra running and even a one game suspension but if every kid or coach that used improper language was kicked on the team or fired, they would have no players or coaches available to play the games. 2.  If there was truly another player or coach that witnessed this situation, and they agree with the player then by all means the coach should be held accountable for their actions.
    • 1st round exit?        For real ?!?!?!                     Oh wait.....    are we talking band or football?
    • Assistant football staff still the same? Any replacement for Brian Beaubien? Who will be the DC? Will there be anything going on this spring with football? I go watch practice often.
