Oh, you care. And you're worried. It's a couple years away, but you're already worried.

The middle school has been good but the crew that just come thru lost 3 times in 2nd round bad ( Anderson County 2 times and CAK)  and in 3rd round to Alcoa that was a close game. The crew now likes to score but not sure they are sold on playing defense. Moral of the story middle school success or failure does not matter in high school.

Middle school success does matter if you have a system in place where the little league, middle school, and high school coaches are all on the same page and working together to develop players. That's what has made Maryville, Alcoa and Greeneville great programs. It's that simple.

You took the words right out of mouth.Ryan Witten is at TA Dugger and they are doing and excellent job teaching these kids what to expect in high school.

Then explain the last 4 years?  The bunch that just came thru were good at ta dugger. If you want to talk about success then I think at least win 3 playoff games  because round 1 of playoffs are a joke. The 2 Anderson county games ehs had no chance. I was at one and watched and listened to one. Not trying to get anyone all worked up.

Tab it’s going to get better just sit back and wait and when it does you can say I was right.I know a lot of these kids and coaches and they are going to do what it takes to get better. If we never win a gold ball I will still be there cheering these kids on.

The biggest intangible in middle school regardless of the level of coaching is the players themselves. Interest and desires change overtime. That stud 5’7 150lb linebacker in the 8th grade with the 8.5 shoe and shaving ends up 5’7 and 175lb. Senior. On the other hand that short fat kid that can’t move with size 12’s might end up 6’3 275lb. With quick feet.

The way it was explained to me I don't think "the system" was in place 4 years ago. You don't just install it and the next year you go undefeated. It has to work its way up from the little league. I wonder if Anderson Co. was using all 8th graders?

    • Why? Low pay. Low budget thanks to the Rotary milking the programs revenue. Foul smell. There are other negative things... Positives: the players and being toward the top of the classification numbers wise.
    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.
