Skipping the hard work in the offseason is a character flaw.  When they're crying in the post game huddle, i always say, you earned this sht.  In all my years as a cland supporter, we never had a group to really train together.  We always beat everyone local and then get smacked by a team in the playoffs who trained right. It ain't about private schools having an advantage.  We need to take care of business at home and winning will take care of itself

Many do have an advantage because they're able to have one of those training periods....position specific training, with the team, everyday, lead by trainers....Then football practice after school. Makes a huge difference.

Programs like ours depends on two or three kids doing the extra training after football practice and weekends....even after Friday night's game. We've seen the success that can bring a few times (most recent was the 2015-16 team). Imagine if strength, speed and mental training were a part of these team's courses everyday and then they focused on practice afterwards. But, fact is, it's in most kids to only do what they HAVE to....Thus little training other than football practice

We held each other accountable to be there for the extra work if you weren't there one of us were driving to your house to see why

Love that. SG players have gotten much more serious and it shows. Hoping our guys hold each other accountable like that. Admire Greeneville’s work ethic. That is the foundation!

I'm all about that extra work and accountability to your teammates . I think the special ones are the ones that are self discipline enough to eat enough and get enough rest and really try to give themselves every advantage.

Devilsx5 I bet that Meigs lineman you are talking about is #57. He's solid for sure. Blocks till the whistle blows.  #51 is also solid but I would be surprised to see anyone brag about him hustling.

It was funny looking at freshman asking why I dont even get to see the field... We would say dont care your a play away from having to play let's go coaches didnt have to police or hold the standard they supported it and gave us the resources but we demanded it out of the others

It may have been I forgot to look the play I remembered most was like a read option play and Swafford was heading to the sidelines and he escorted him into the end zone never really get to see lineman that determined loved it
