Dyer County:

The Shelby Metro Sportsblog website has been keeping data on all of the Shelby County schools for the year. It is quite extensive. Kirby is just one big stat producing team. Offensively and defensively.

Go here to view Kirby's Team Stats as compared to all of the other 69 high schools in Shelby County through 9 games.

Go here to view if Kirby has any player to be recognized as a top player in Shelby County in the Individual Stats categories as compared to all of the players among the 69 high schools in Shelby County through 9 games.

Stats are very telling. These tell us a lot. Kirby is a passing team with the 2nd rated passing QB in all of Shelby County. They have two WRs who do damage. One has almost 500 yards receiving through 9 games with 7 TDs and the other has approximately 320 yards of receiving with 5 TDs through the same 9.

Question ... what team in region 7 best resembles what Kirby does offensively? How did Dyer County fair against that team?

I know NE passed all the time against us. Dyer County beat NE 50-20. We beat NE 40-26. Dyer County has scored over 60 in 1 game. Over 50 points in 5 games. It is possible for this to be a good game. I didn't expect DC to be 8-2 so I may have been wrong with my prediction. We will find out who is for real and who isn't. DC and Kirby is a very hard game to call. DC will be very very hungry! It all depends on how they handle playing against a really good defense

Kirby has had issues with good teams. No way around that. Will it haunt them this Friday night? That's the question.

That's the difficult part of calling this game. I feel like if Kirby brings it and Dyer doesn't it could be like I said Kirby 35-14. If both teams bring it then we are talking about maybe a 28-21 type game in favor of either team.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
