7 is a stretch, but 8 is ridiculous. How? You beating Blackman all of the sudden?! Sneaking into that fourth spot is an outside possibility with an upset win over Cookeville, but even that is unlikely. You won’t beat any of the Big 3, and it will not be close. Just telling it like it is. A 6 win season at WC is a “once in a blue moon accomplishment” and that would certainly be something to be proud of.

Just beat Blackman 35-28

I certainly was wrong!! I’ve been shocked how bad Blackman is and this is a continuation of that. But full credit to Warren County! Or maybe simply CJ Taylor...5 TDs tonight! One man show!! Barring an upset loss to Coffee County or Siegel, the Pioneers will return to the playoffs for the first time in who knows when?! I looked it up and 2008 was the last legit playoff appearance. The two most recent were as a result of that Super 32 the TSSAA did where everyone automatically made the playoffs and WC had no business being in. A playoff trip to Mt. Juliet or Hendersonville will likely await in the first round this year...but what an accomplishment that would be having to play in that Rutherford County region!

As mentioned earlier, Blackman certainly lacked discipline tonight and seemed very lethargic through the first 2 and a half quarters.

That being said, they still have very capable athletes, and had there been much more time on the clock I truly believe they pull off the epic comeback.

Taylor is without a doubt a once in a generation talent for this area. To win POY in this district as a junior is impressive, but he is mounting a heck of a senior year and amassing college offers. This team has a little more in the tank, but will struggle against the upper tier talent at the end of the schedule, most likely dropping 3 of the last 4 games .

They’ll have a shot at an 8-2 season, which would be remarkable. They cannot hang with the talent at Oakland and Riverdale, but the Cookeville game could be a good one...likely for 3rd. It’s a once in a generation player/team to be sure, but the McMinnville folks deserve it and should enjoy the ride. It won’t get any better than this season.

If WC can beat Blackman, then Oakland is the only game that is probably out of reach for them. As previously stated, they shown that they have personnel to make Oakland sweat it out as well.

Is this an outlier season from what we've seen from WC in the past? Yes, but it doesn't have to be. They have too much talent to be awful. I can see this being a kind of season that propels them to at least Cookeville's level, where the floor should be a playoff berth and the ceiling can be a 7-8 win season

A combination of coaching and talent makes for a very good season.

8 is not ridiculous.
