Region 6-3A in 2021 & 2022

Waverly Central High School

Cheatham Co. Central High School

Stewart Co. High School

Fairview High School

Sycamore High School

I also wouldn't be surprised if Scotts Hill chose to play up in Classification and was also placed in Region 6-3A for the next 2 years.  I do not believe Houston County, East Hickman, Hickman County, Harpeth, or Camden will move from 2A in the next cycle.

What happened to the Cheatham County schools this year?

I am shocked to see Sycamore winless. On paper you would think they should have had a shot at the 2 seed again this year.

Cheatham had a lot of optimism coming into the season. What are their problems stemming from?

As unbelievable as it seems Harpeth is actually the best team in the county.

How is it possible the entire county has fallen so far so quickly?

The programs will rise back up and be contenders again in due time.  Two of the Three schools are under the direction of first year coaching staffs that didn't have an offseason to prepare for the season due to COVID-19.  Another school is currently the smallest in 3A football and the new classification cycle will drop them down to 2A.  Their head coach is currently working year number 30 and is eligible for retirement at the end of the year.  It wouldn't surprise me to see that job open this upcoming offseason.

Camden, another school in the region, had a coaching staff overhaul after last season and they too are struggling this season due to the lack of an offseason this past year due to COVID-19.

We've hit Week 10 of the 2020 High School Football Season.  The winner of the Week 11 Fairview at Stewart County contest will be the Region Champions.  The loser of that contest will be the #2 seed.

Harpeth seems to be locked in as the region's #3 seed.  In order for that to change several things would have to happen.

The race for the #4 seed is a mess.  If Camden beats Sycamore in Week 11 then they are #4.  If Sycamore beats Cheatham County and Camden the next 2 weeks then they are #4.  If Cheatham County beats Sycamore and Harpeth the next 2 weeks then they could be #4 (or potentially #3 if Sycamore then turned around and beat Camden).

Region 6-3A Standings

1.)  Fairview Yellow Jackets                          6-1 Overall                          (4-0 in Region)

1.)  Stewart County Rebels                           6-1 Overall                          (4-0 in Region)

3.)  Harpeth Indians                                       2-5 Overall                          (2-2 in Region)

4.)  Camden Lions                                           1-7 Overall                          (1-3 in Region)

5.)  Sycamore War Eagles                              0-7 Overall                          (0-3 in Region)

5.)  Cheatham County Cubs                          0-8 Overall                          (0-3 in Region)

Week 10:  Friday 10/23

Cheatham County at Sycamore

Camden at Lewis County

Harpeth at East Robertson

Stewart County at Houston County

Fairview at Dickson County

Week 11:  Friday 10/30

Fairview at Stewart County:  this game will decide the Region 6-3A Championship

Sycamore at Camden

Harpeth at Cheatham County

I think we are gonna beat Sycamore and Harpeth and make the playoffs.

If you come to play football, you can beat Harpeth.  They showed up Friday night to simply run out the clock.  There was no desire to compete from them.  80% of their plays were up the middle.  IT was a fun game form FV as we were able to play all our kids.  I was disappointed in the lack of fight from them.

Sycamore will give you more of a fight.  They tried their entire playbook and found some success in the second half moving the ball.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
