Glad to hear LC is still going to be in good hands. I was gonna ask how Humboldt was on this thread. My sister in law has taught there for the past 3 years, and I’ve been told by many others too that they just simply do not care about anything but basketball. That’s with the community and the administration, which Is sad. I can Remember  nights when we played Humboldt it was a knock out drag out, and now we don’t even play our 2nd longest county rival no more. I wished the program there got better because it once was a really good program, just sad to see it get like that

I understand why Humboldt does not play Peabody.  But to be the best you got to beat the best.  Peabody never shied away from competition, even when we were huge underdogs.  Bt the last time Peabody played Humboldt, it was 72-0 and that was with the junior varsity playing most of the second half.  We could have scored 100, but coach Jacobs is a classy guy.  We know the shoe may be on the other foot one day.  I hope all these teams we have mad mercy on do not develop amnesia.

And before anyone complains about the 72 points, just know this, 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers were in the game.  You don't tell a kid not to score until its time to take a knee.

Yes I know that’s the reason we don’t play. The rivalry has had a lot of classic matchups and I wished it would get back that way.

That game we put 72 up wasn’t all the offense. I think the defense had more scoop and scores and pick 6’s than offensive TD’s if I remember correctly.

Lake County has got to stop the stupid pre snap penalties. 8 offside penalties in the first 2 quarters of the game. The 2nd half LC did a much better job with the penalties. The coaches will get that cleaned up. Lake County has a very solid passing game. Qb Wilson throws a very good ball both on the short passing game as well as the deep passing game. LC has a number of kids who can catch the ball and make plays after the catch. LC has a bevy of good young backs with speed. Da Da is special and will be a star if he stays healthy. Really excited about the freshmen Qb. He has nice size and speed. He made very good decisions and was very accurate with his throws. I like the fact that Coach Quinn played him in the game when it was still in doubt. The freshmen running back #7 looked real good. He is fast has nice size for a freshmen. I really liked his vision and foot work. The offensive line is young and huge. Jay Lebo is going to be a monster. He is just a sophomore. The line did a better job getting to the second level last night. The line is young and will keep getting better. The defense through two games have looked very good. They very well could have pitched two shutouts thus far. I did see the secondary needs some more work. Humboldt was able to catch passes on crossing routes and in the flats. That needs some attention. The kicking game needs alot of work. LC cannot keep giving the opposition the ball at midfield. Field position is very important and will get you beat against a good team. LC needs to work on the snap to the punter. They had one that bounced to the punter last night. They had 2 in the game against Dresden that led to two touchdowns for the lions in the opening week. LC still looks like the cream of region 7A and barring injuries they could make a very deep run in the playoffs this season. The future is very bright for the Falcons beyond this year. Lake County is a very young team with alot of talent. Coach Quinn and his staff are very engaged and by the looks of things they seem to be improving as a coaching staff as well. They are doing very well for being a first year head coach and having a first year defensive coordinator and line coach. I like were the direction of the program is headed. As for Humboldt. They have some good looking athletes. Their skill players could be very good. I don't think they spend much time in the weight room and it really shows. They had a couple of kids that brought it on defense. With a culture change Humboldt could be a player in 1A football. I heard their enrollment was 211 so they are going to be 1A for the foreseeable future. The talent is there especially for 1A football. From a outsiders perspective they need a good young football coach that can get the kids to buy in and establish a solid weight program. It would take a coach a good 5 years to change the culture. It can be done but are the people and the administration willing to hire a coach and give the time and resources to get it done.

I agee.Think he played 4 backs last night.DA Da is going to be special as well as the freshman qb,Ceasar.Didnt know #7 was a freshman.Csn see him getting better.Looks like running backs are going to be very goid next 4 years barring any unforeseen circumstance.Im excited about this young team .

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
