Their whole situation is unstable Bass. Administration said that there'd be no in person classes there, and that as long as it was "unsafe" to have class on campus that no athletic events would be scheduled. They forefit their first few weeks games, then tell our coaches that they were going to play until right before gameday, when they cancelled (we didn't have time to find an opponent). Next, they DO play, and everyone assumes that they're going to play the schedule out, and now it's off again.

Just for the record, I don't think that the coaches or anyone involved with the team is responsible.

It’s some shady stuff. They let Volleyball play last night.

I really feel for those kids at Houston County. From the outside it looks like some very wishy-washy leadership is ruining what I thought was a team that was coming together under a new coach. They came to our place two years ago to play for a spot in the playoffs, and kept fighting back from behind to win in a monsoon when the old Irish teams would have quit. Last year, they were pretty solid, improving, and really surprised some people. This year, the "dangling carrot" of getting to play has been jerked away like Lucy pulling the football away as Charlie Brown tries to kick it. Just let 'em play!

Trader, the old Irish teams beat you the first 4 times you guys had a ball team...

Wasn't spoiling for an argument, just trying to say that I really thought you guys were getting to where you needed to be before CV-19 (and whatever other issues) derailed the train. Congratulations on those four wins over our brand new JV team with 20 kids.

Tell him Trader! I guess the guy can’t catch on to you trying to give their kids , coaches , and fans credit. The higher ups somewhere over there has ruined the momentum that football program was building. They definitely took a step forward last year but I think they took two steps back this year.

I have a lot of respect for HC's team of coaches... I don't enjoy losing, but I like to give credit when people do a good job and they absolutely had those kids playing hard, smart football. I agree with the "two steps back" comment, and it could be worse if their coach get's fed up and looks for another job.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
