Way too early region 3 aaa predictions

Recommended Posts

Since this will be the last time there will be 3 classes in the state i wonder how many schools will be AAAA and AAA and how many would qualify for region tournaments ??? That being said here is my early outlook for both district 5 region 3 AAA for the 2020-2021 season.

Number 1 in district is obvious so ill skip them but with Muhonen, Williams, Carman, crittenden, and sloan carpenter returning should be as balanced as last year for bradley. 2nd could be a battle between walker valley and cleveland. Jamarian blair will boost clevelands playing level up a bit and could make it harder for the other teams this year. Walker valley with drew lyness as coach now has allot of talent on that team and should be able to contend with cleveland for 2nd. 4-7 could be anybody but i think based off of experience east ham gets 4th even without the hayes sisters only because the competition below them isnt that great. 5th will probably go to mcminn for same reason stated above. Mcminn and east ham aee pretty much level as far as skills are concerned. Same with soddy and ooltewah. Fortunately for them after this season they will likely stay in AAA and will be able to actually compete for district title with east ham. when bradley cleveland wv and mcminn move to AAAA. As far as region 3 goes allot more competition for 2nd place between stone, rhea, cookeville cleveland and walker valley. Stone had a great chance to win state last year with one of the best players in the state with emma capps now that shes gone, they have to rebuild. All that being said heres my final records for each team... District record in parenthesis..

1. Bradley 25-2 (12-0)

2. Walker valley 18-9 (9-3)

3. Cleveland 17-10 (9-3)

4. East hamilton 14-13 (5-7)

5. McMinn 12-15 (5-7)

6. Ooltewah 8-19 (1-11)

7. Soddy Daisy 6-21 (1-11)

Playoffs: district 5

Bradley over w.v in  finals and cleveland over east ham. for 3rd.

District 6

Stone over white county in finals

Rhea over cookeville for 3rd

Region playoffs.

1) bradley over 4) cookeville

2) white county over 3) cleveland

1) Stone over 4) east ham

3) rhea county over 2) w.v

Semis:

1) bradley over 2) white county

3) rhea over 1) stone

Finals: 1) bradley over 3) Rhea

Sectionals:

Blackman over rhea

Bradley over riverdale or oakland

Bradley schedule not as tough and will go undefeated until state tournament! New name to remember Hannah Jones! Cleveland will be second in the district !! Stone will win their district ! White county second! Bradley vs stone in region championship with Bradley winning again! State final will be Bradley vs stone assuming different bracket!

Couldve happened this year had bradley not got beat but then covid happened so technically bradley is still the reigning state champs. Hannah jones is good player. Shell be great coming off bench filling in for when ashlen crittenden, kelsey carman or sloan carpenter get in foul trouble. Bradley will lose couple of games. Usually do. They will get invited to some toirnament during christmas

Not sure how you have Cleveland at 3.  Especially with Blair.  It’s a two team race with Cleveland taking a huge step forward this year.  I expect them to compete for first.

In 6AAA it’s the same story as the past few years.  Stone is the champs until someone takes them down.  They did lose Capps but they have the best player in the region returning in Miller.  After watching her this summer, I expect her to be a Ms Basketball contender.  The top 3 will be very competitive.  Yes I said 3.  Stone, Cookeville, WC.   I admit I was completely wrong about Rhea last year.  I didn’t think Hampton could carry them that far but she was unbelievable.  Without her and Cameron they won’t place higher than 4.  White county loses their big but Powers came on late in the season so I don’t expect much drop off.  Cookeville lost 3 senior leaders but return the core of their team and bench.  They will be a better team this year.  The next two years will be Cookeville’s best teams we have had in a long time.  And they are going to need to be that team with the schedule that I saw. It’s going to be a fun year.  Hopefully we get to play!  This region was just getting good and now they gotta change it up! Bummer!  Should be a very competitive final year of these matchups.

Cleveland has lost Kara Williams.  That’s a huge blow to their team.  Sucks as it’s her senior year.

Wow didn’t see that until just now after reading your post.  That’s terrible.  That girl is one of the toughest players I watched the past couple years.  Love the mean streak killer mindset.  Prayers to @coachinhoops and family.   Tough loss.  She played well this summer so I am sure she will get a shot at the next level.  Cleveland will still be top 2 but replacing that scoring is gonna be hard.

I believe Kara Williams (& Muhonnen from BCHS) have signed with Lee University.

I don’t think you have ever seen anyone beating BC.

It’s been 6+ years since BC lost a district game... (not sure any have even been close in 4th quarter, including 10-12 games vs last year’s Miss Basketball).

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
