SP vs Whitwell

Ok so here's my take on the difference between SP and Whitwell. People want to down SP because basically year in and year out we have a good team. What makes those good teams is of course good talent and coaching, but also we have so many good supporters of the program.  I see so many alumni from the 50's,60's, 70's. 80's .90's that still show up for most games. To be honest I don't usually know 75% of the team player's, but I'm a SPHS alumni so I show up to support my school.  Let me ask a question. Everyone from Whitwell wants to get on here and bash all the coaches , but how many of those 2018 state championship team fans that flocked the stadium 2 hours before a game, where are they now? You can't have fans like that to be successful. You have to get behind the program through thick or thin. Maybe a little encouragement would help the player's play better and the coaches coach better if they had the backing. I've seen SP go through some low year's, but year in and out you could always depend on the TRUE Pirate Faithful to be there to support the program. Look, anyone can root and talk so boldly and stick there chest out if your winning, but when hard times come and your not winning all the time, well that's when you see people for who they really are. Are you a fly by night fan, or a true supporter. I just took SP and Whitwell as an example. I know so many other teams out there have the support we have at SP and there record usually show's that and there great facilities and great people of there community. And AMEN.

You pretty much nailed it.  There was a time that Whitwell would have packed stadiums in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

Great post, that is very true. Most teams don't have a fan base show up unless its parents. SP has always had a large group that travels and supports their team. That makes a bigger difference than most think.  When kids look up into the stands and see all those people and know that they are playing for more than just a win, they are playing for a tradition. I've always respected the support SP has.

What kind of mess is this?  You jailhouse fellars still running scared.  I finally got my computer back from Wendy but im real mad that Pruitt man chickened out playing Grider.  I garuntee you that Pruitt man would like to have a copy of that orchestration manual I stole last year when we visited the fake honey hole.  If you fellars knowd Grider had that youd be breaking in his fieldhouse again.  You think im joking but im not.

Welcome back Roy. PowerP and Pegleg have been a mess to deal with.
