I've put out a preliminary top 15 in each class to generate some discussion.   The new classifications has made it especially hard this year!  We'll be "adjusting" these positions over the next couple of months as spring camps begin and we have more data to judge teams with:

In 4A I think you should swap Haywood and GreenEville. I think you should swap Anderson Co. and East Hamilton. I think you should take out Kirby and insert Ridgeway. Also South Gibson and Hardin Co have to be considered somewhere. Maybe in place of Upperman and Carter. Just my two cents. Good work though brother.

What about Fulton and Creekwood???  That's the problem with this class.  About 20 quality teams that on any other season would be worthy of top ten status!

Whoever wins this class may be in conversation with Oakland,  Maryville,  and Alcoa as the best in the State.

With everything Oakland returns I'll bet they run through their schedule even worse than 2020

Dyersburg at 2 in 3A? Not sure about that. They very well could be I guess but I would say they are going to be 2 or 3 in their region not the state.

That could be a reach, but they've got a ton of kids back including many of their lineman.

They drop down from 4A and that side of the bracket isn't as strong this year with some power teams like Milan moving up.

It's gonna be an interesting post season in 3A on the West side of the state this year.

You are correct. Lots of quality teams since the reclassification. However I think Oakland will be the class of the state but the winner of this class will be in the conversation with the rest for next best. 4A is definitely stacked now.

I could see that I guess with the return of starters. I just think the West until someone other than Covid proves otherwise runs through Covington. Kirby and his bunch seem to reload every year. But at the same time, I am not sure how Covington looks on paper at this moment after graduation. No arguments with the number 1 team haha.

Lean very strongly towards your thoughts.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
