Anderson County will welcome Science Hill to the BullRing Friday.  Both teams come in with a week one loss, but I expect the Mavs to come in with a ton of confidence after bouncing a very talented Powell team from pillar to post before running out of gas in a four hour marathon game.  Hats off to Powell, but I think any Powell person will tell ya, they got all they wanted Friday night.  Mavs have shown they can line up and score from anywhere on the field.  They threw for 300+ Friday and ran it for another 280.  Defensively, they will have to tackle better Friday, and I bet the coaching staff will make that a point of emphasis.   I was disappointed in the kick coverage, but pleasantly surprised in the other areas of special teams.  The turnout of fans at the Powell game was outstanding.  Energy was at 100 for the entire game, and that was fun to be a part of.  This week, with the home crowd, I would expect the Mavericks to bring the energy level at 100 again, but they have to maintain it.  They must play 4 quarters of football.  They are explosive on offense, and can get some stops on defense.  I believe this will be the first meeting between the two schools, and I will look forward to seeing the Science Hill fans in the stands.

4th largest school by enrollment in Tennessee. But, They won’t travel well. They were the “Home” team Friday night at the ETSU campus, and we FILLED the stands with Orange and Black. It’s the most fans for a football game ETSU has ever had. But it was a high school game. (I wouldn’t mind playing it there every year) This week will be interesting. First week jitters are gone. We get to see how the Mavs handle the Hill after Betsy took them down. We get to see how Betsy handles the Golden Eagles after Alcoa blew them out. And the Mavs get the Golden Birds later on too. Betsy and Greeneville week 3. Mavs vs Betsy down the line. Man! There are some GAMES in our futures! Good luck Mavs.

Mavs had a tremendous 1st game and many aspects could have still finished it off. Mavs are really balanced and the run game is just as good as the sky show. We need to wrap up bring down and execute instead if f waiting for the runner to come to us we should start to play more and more like Champions. On a Note I need to clarify; the kicker done very well. Maybe a little higher so coverage can prepare on kickoff. Punt protection needs work. Hopefully we do not need to punt often. Punter will definitely need to be one step punter. All in The Mavs had a tremendous non conference game. They should now be ready to take on anyone. Not sure how hard and long Betsy kept 1st string on field. And it would be nice to see that replay online.

GO MAVS!!
