You think it's Partin?

It's been my policy not to mention names on this forum when it comes to speculating on coaching vacancies, but the one you mention should definitely be on the short list.

It's ok.  I just don't mention names I am hearing because I don't want to cause problems for them in their current positions if they don't get a particular job they have applied for.  No big deal.  Others don't feel the same way, and that's fine.

I do know Russ.  Good football coach, solid resume.  His prior head coaching gig didn't turn out great, but whose tenure at Cumberland County has turned out well?  He's coached on both sides of the ball, has a state championship ring as an OC at Farragut, and he is a classy guy, to boot.  He was on the Powell staff when my son played there, so I have seen his career progress as a coach.  He would be a good fit, in my opinion.

His time at Cumberland County was better than his record showed. He had them competitive in games they not been lately

Worst thing SD could do it hire Partin. Guy is a disaster, he will run off any respectable people affiliated with that program. Everyone in Knox County is pulling for Partin to get it.

I knew Russ when we was a Farragut and seemed to do a good job calling plays. His personality seemed a little abrasive, so not sure how well he would be received in the community or as the head coach by players, but that has been a few years since we was here, so maybe he has changed.

Anyone know a timeline on this hire?

Disagree with you 110%

Russ is a solid football coach.  He's not a Clark Duncan personality, but if that's what the community is looking for then they are going to be disappointed no matter who is hired. Clark was unique.

Russ has solid experience on both side of the ball and he is respected by his peers.  SD would be fortunate to have him follow Clark.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
