Sweetwater @ Meigs County

New year, new teams folks. How will this game go this year? Meigs bring a young hungry team anxious to prove themselves and make their mark. We have improved all aspects of our game in the scrimmages I managed to attend in the off-season. Meigs held their own against Loudon in the Jamboree and Sweetwater faced a much improved Polk County team in the Jamboree as well. Who wins and why?

I think it’s a toss up but I think meigs controls the ball and pulls out a 26-21 win.

If sweetwater gets good qb play don’t be surprised if they pull it out. Two good running backs and 3 viable options on the outside. 
 

Meigs will need to hit a few passes to win this game imo, sweetwater has a good defensive line but there weakness is on the back end

@SHSguru You mentioned in a different thread this years game will be close than they have been. Care to elaborate on that? Sweetwater up this year from last year or because you think Meigs Is down some? Or a bit of both.

Watching some of the Jamboree, why do you think Polk had so much success running it on you all? Polk looked really good at the Jamboree I thought. They could end up being a surprise team in 2A this year as far as being head and shoulders above what they were last year. I've never met their coach but I can tell they are much improved over last year to their credit

Normally at this time our defense is much ahead of our offense, but they have gotten it together mostly towards the end of pre season. Offensively im hoping we have auccess moving the ball on you about like we did Loudon. Those 10 minite scoring drives take their toll. Hard to tell off of scrimmages but if you all are pretty good, we may be in for a shootout come Friday. Ball possession could be key along with a turnover ot two.

They converted two third and longs including a 3&12 for the big run.  Then our outside linebacker and safety got sucked in on the run and they hit the pass to the tight end for the td. Coach Martin pulled our guys after 1 series and we was very very vanilla with our defensive and offensive play calling.  
 

imo and I may be wrong we are 2 tds better than Polk. 
 

hiwever a coach Davis coached team is always a threat

Yeah TY and Luke run very hard they will be a load for anybody this year. If you can get good qb play out of Meadows you guys will be right in the mix as always come November.

 

I do think you’ll have to have good secondary play Friday. Cause sweetwater will throw it a few times this year and try to stretch you laterally.  Meigs is definitely the favorite in this game and deservedly so

Definitely a bit of both, sweetwater returns a lot of starters, and meigs lost a lot of really really good players. Our QB isn’t looking over his shoulder this year like last year cause a very talented sophomore qb ended up transferring.  Privates and others seem to like to come after some of our better athletes, been like that for a while now but that’s another story. 
 

in the end it’s high school football and a bounce or two can change a game either way. Either way I’ll be rooting for both these teams the rest of the year.

Great posts and you seem to know our team better than I know yours. Should be a dandy Friday. Our qb has improved alot in the pre season. Taking time off like he did he is still getting comfortable I believe back there. So far though I've seen him break some ankles with his agility . He's a top notch athlete and I expect alot out of him this year with his talent and speed. Good to talk to someone from that school. Hope for good weather Friday.

He is definitely an athlete I enjoy watching him play basketball, he’s a fiery kid who wants to win and tough as nails so there’s no doubt he will figure it out. Yes sir looks like some scattered showers so that’s always fun and makes things interesting.  I enjoy talking football so I figured I’d start posting! Good luck Friday!

Does Meigs have a kicker this year? That’s what made me go with the 26.
