But on top of that all of last year's starters were seniors at every position. So that double whammy of inexperience and poor on the field play has really hurt this team as well as the pee wee level offensive play calling Was the talent level drop off that bad or did the staff fail to prepare this group or just a culmination of lots of things? I agree on the play calling. It's inevitable that you will have some drop off after graduation but should your program fall off a cliff? The coaching staff is not the same. Some coaches left and went elsewhere. And we’re replaced. Might have something to do with it. Just another part of the equation. TribalEmpire
I'd say talent and coaching honestly. Hilton is way too predictable with the play calling and has been since the South days. The talent can get you over that hurdle to a degree like it did the Wolves last season. I've seen a lot of really good teams over the years with predictable play calling. But those players had been taught those same predictable plays from pee-wee to varsity. The thing is, when you run your plays to perfection you can't be stopped. You have to build your talent. You can't sit around and wait for a good group of athletes to show up. That's why you see so many teams in this area have one or two good seasons then 5 bad ones. That seems to be the cycle.
