What you don't understand is that they came to us, we didn't go to them. I've been fortunate enough to meet some of those families and hear why they came here and so have a few of the rest of us. Still good friends with most of them to this day. My bet on the one who came from WB was that they were changing offense to a double wing formation and had their doubts on the new hire for coach. Some people in life have those options and others have to stay put and play where their supposed to go or not play at all.

That is unequivocally BS. I know for a fact that is not true.

I listen to so much unbelievable garbage on a weekly basis that gets told and told and told but a totally different story the by the tenth time. Two weeks ago I had a customer of mine tell me a whopper that if I repeated it everyone would know who and possibly get back to that person but it involved two players and two dads and I know both but to get out and run your mouth downing people you don't know on hear say is BS.

I'd agree this is often true.  But what you aren't taking into account, is that the last state championship y'all won was four years ago.  This current record is a reflection of that.  Maryville isn't a program on the up.  I agree that a consistent program recruits for itself through reputation.  You'll see such programs have steady increases and sustained performance without much fanfair.  Other programs intentionally recruit (More against the rules like) and you'll see those programs make gains quickly and with much fanfare.  Maryville isn't either of those.  You mention 7th and 8th grade, but who's to say those kids won't go to a different program based on this years record?  I don't think it bodes well...

A lot of people from Maryville accuse me of being negative on the program but I get that from being such a micro manager from owning a company that it drives you crazy how stupid some people really are soon as you turn your back. I have been around football enough to see problems ahead and those are starting to show their ugly head. Things can be corrected without recreating the wheel here but to those that are going to do that there will be pain involved and a lot of hurt feelings or we can watch Maryville Football slide on down the drain like the famous Kingsport and Oak Ridge teams that were world beaters at one time in history.

Then you don't understand the Maryville Mentality.

    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
    • Thats one of the problems of having an 8-team region. A team could make it in any other region, but the numbers work against them in this one.
