Perry County @ South Fulton

Recommended Posts

The Vikings (1-6, 0-3 R6-1A) travel to South Fulton (3-3, 1-2 R6-1A) on Friday. The Vikings have been hit with the injury bug. Last week against McEwen they had their starting QB, RB, DB, a LB, a Safety, and a lineman all on the bench with various injuries. This week they should be back to full strength. Both the Red Devils and Vikings are vying for that #4 seed in the Region along with Gleason and Bruceton. The Vikings have had a tough schedule so far. They won 38-20 at Middleton, lost (thanks weather delay) at Hickman County 20-8, lost at #4 Dresden, lost vs. 3A Community, lost to #1 McKenzie, lost to Scotts Hill (it was 7-6 at the half before injuries), then lost to #8 McEwen with a depleted roster. I don't like to say "well if we had so and so or whoever they would have played better." The turnovers have been a problem this year but they could have come back and won against Scotts Hill and would have given McEwen a better fight. But, the younger players got some much needed experience as well. The future looks bright but still a couple years away. But this team has a chance to win out and make the #4 seed but its going to be tough driving 2 hours and 15 minutes on fall break this week but if this team wants to make the playoffs for the first time since 2011, they are going to have to overcome these odds. Not to mention that South Fulton is much improved and they are not going to be a push over by any means. They want to make the playoffs as well.

Your QB and RB are exceptional athletes...if you can complete some short passes to open the middle up, you could be a problem for most teams. One glaring flaw that I saw...on the RPO, the QB needs to make better reads. Maybe not reads, but he needs to keep the ball up the gut more. Several times our linebackers shifted into what would have been a one on one with him keeping the ball, yet he stuck it in 22's gut and left it there. One good move on the LB and the safety has to save a touchdown. Don't know SF's style, but they seem to throw the ball around some, could give you problems if the safety creeps up like against us before the snap. Good luck to the Vikings...I'm still a fan of your program from the respect y'all showed my Lions when the Jacob Tucker teams were rolling and we were trying to start a varsity schedule...Go Vikes!!!

I’d look for another high scoring game considering sf’s defense is suspect. The offense has been rolling here lately and can put up a lot of points. Whitehead runs hard and McFarland sees the field very well. Even against Dresden we actually moved the ball very well despite the score. Sf wins this one though 42-28ish!!!

I'll take a close game over a blow out any day! Hopefully we will be healthy this week. Last week, not so much.

I’d agree with that 100%!!! Good luck and hopefully the injury bug stays always from both teams leading into these last few games of the regular season!!

I totally agree! I will be in the pressbox doing the play by play for Perry County. We stream and go on air. We're on Facebook at 101.3 WOPC and on YouTube just search WOPC. I do commentary by myself so it can be tough but I do have a camera man and a producer that helps.

Yes, SF's offense definitely has some spark. Moved the ball very well on Dresden. But, just like Dresden, you have a night where nothings clicks and suddenly it's a different game. If Perry can keep it close with their D, maybe even some turnovers to give their offense some help this could be a rather good game on a very nice football weather night!

Been to Linden many times, super nice folk, loads of traditions, tight community,  lovely area, and it’s crazy that TSSAA’s last classification spread out the Regional teams sooooo far away! Hope this gets fixed this rezoning. But travel our teams must, so off we go.. and after vigorously shaking my old Magic 8 ball, it says So.Fulton will pull away in 2nd half, Hate it for the Vikings, that’s a long trip to not get any spoils of battle. Perhaps seeing this neck of the woods the Perry Countians will appreciate their place that much more. No more injuries & a safe, uneventful trip for all. Score? SF 48 - PC 32

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
    • hey goat! how’s monterey looking this year?!
    • several people actually. they said “snoball, do you know who railbird81 is on coacht?” I said, “never heard of her.” they said, “you ought to check it out they’re getting fired up on there like the old days.” well, you can imagine my disappointment when I came here expecting sharp, witty banter and all i found was more akin to toddlers slap fighting. and what looks like 1 guy/gal talking to themselves with multiple accounts.
