Haywood will have heck filling a schedule now. Only four guaranteed games

Well, Covington might not be one of them. They have put 8 teams in Region 7-3A. That gives us 7 region games each year. Then, if you add In-county rivals Munford and Brighton, that makes 9 games. There’s only room for one more non-region game on our schedule. I would like for it to be Haywood, to give us a competitive opponent, but who knows what will happen?

Covington wasn't going to play even before the reclassification from what I was told

I have not heard that. Coach Kirby started the current series (now at 3 games), so I am surprised if that’s the case. We are 1-2 in those games.

I have no inside info on Covington scheduling, but I can ask.

Hoping Haywood can find some better non region games for next year. Henry County, Covington, South Gibson, Lexington are always good games. I hope we can avoid any Memphis city schools! But would like to see some of the Whitehavens, Germantown, Collierville, Houston, Bartlett or even the better private schools. There’s also some good teams in north Mississippi. The team from Paducah that goes to Henry county’s jamboree seems like a good program. Paducah isn’t to bad of a drive.

Covington has played Tupelo, MS a couple of times. They were GOOD! Might be a great game for Haywood.

Tupelo is always good for sure!  Often wondered why some west Tn teams didn’t try playing some North Ms teams. Corinth Ms. which is right across the line is always stout. Usually compete for titles yearly.
