AAA District 7

Big game tonight almost north of the border as Dekalb County travels to Dave Macon County. The game is important for both teams as the #4 spot seems up for the taking amongst the bottom 3 teams in the district. While things had been going swimmingly for DCHS in previous years, this year things aren’t as easy. Looking forward to a good game in which both teams hopefully take a page out of Kelvin Sampson’s playbook and play some intense defense!

Macon has improved from last year but still young and really showed a couple of games this year. Still have yet to play a full game and usually take off 3rd quarters, lol. If they can get a couple of wins in district, it’ll be considered a success. It’s doable

LA girls knocked off #3 White and #1 Upperman this week. Add those to victories over Pickett, Clarkrange, Cookeville, Creekwood, and Cumberland. That's a resume for a new #1 in AAA.

I was in attendance last night for the Upperman game and it was a impressive showing for Livingston.  They are in contention for a championship if they continue to play at this high a level and I for one did not see this coming from them.  I thought they were the third best team in that district behind Upperman and White County and the fourth best team in the region behind either Lawrence County or Lincoln County.  After watching some Eight Triple A games earlier in the year it is a three team race in the region to see who makes it to a sectional berth and they all three will come out this district which might be the strongest in the state in girls basketball.

So you got Upperman, White County, LA, South Side, Greenville, Elizabethton and maybe Page to decide the Gold this year. That the way you see it??

Page is not a threat to win this year. All of those other teams could legitimately win the whole thing

After some shaky holiday tournament losses, they have seemed to click. Starting 5 seem to all have discovered and embraced their roles and playing with much more discipline. They are not very deep so that's good to see. I know rankings mean nothing right now, but if we are going to have them, I don't know how you don't rank them #1. They were #8 and beat 4 of the 7 teams ranked ahead of them. That's impressive.

LA is for real. Best team in 7AAA at the moment. They will be a tough out for sure. Will be a dog fight to see who comes out of the region tournament this year.

Anytime Coach Coffman has a good team they have a shot but I do not see any 8 AAA team making it out of the region.
