I don’t think Rice goes back but there is an obvious choice IMO. He is from there and it would be cool to see him week one in 23.

Out of curiosity, who would be a better choice than Rick Rice as the head coach other than possibly his son that is coaching in college?  No disrespect but when you are so far removed from everything that you have to pipe in sunshine it's not easy to attract a high-quality coach.

i don’t think there is a better coach than Rick Rice for WC, if you will use your reading skills; IMO: (In my opinion) was that he wouldn’t go back. Sorry, no disrespect if I offended you. IMO, WC will attract high quality coaches.

Give me the name of 3 really good and proven coaches, not good men that want to coach at Wayne County?  It takes a special individual and their family that want to live in such a remote area and work for the pay scale of Wayne County.  The absolute only reason that Rick Rice went to WC the first time is because his first wife was from WC and wanted to go home.  The facilities are marginal, and you have not only nosey parental involvement but meddling from civic and church leaders that don't have a clue as to what it takes to consistently compete at an elite level.  Would you want a coach that doesn't really expect to win a state championship every season because that's what you have had recently.  This is not a part time job and will take 80 hours a week worth of work to turn the program around again.  I have already been informed that the families that can afford the tuition are sending their kids one hour away to Columbia Academy.  Yes, Wayne County has the potential to have a very good football program again, but this is a rebuilding job that is going to take a lot of hard work from everyone involved and the attitudes of both the players and community must change.  I am not trying to be rude, but the facts are what they are.  Tell me if I am wrong!

From an outsider with a little inside knowledge...you're dead wrong. Wayne County has tradition, fan support, and some tough and hardworking young men in the community. I have no idea who the new coach will be, but I've heard that there's interest from at least a few good ones.

Name three successful coaches other that Rick Rice that are interested in the job.  You would be shocked at what I know about this program.

Nah, I'm good with me knowing, couldn't care less if you know or not... you would be shocked at what I could tell you too.

I will wait to see what coaches apply for the job that have won a state championship or even made the state championship game.  I am confident that the line will be so long that it will go from the school, wrap around the square and extend down Hwy 64.

Absolutely that is my definition of a successful coach!  When you are a coach your job is to win state championships.  Other things may go along with winning state championships but that is the number one goal.  I would never hire a coach that was not obsessed with winning championships.  Remember that I never said anything about cheating or doing unethical things to win.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
