And this is any different from when the Lipscomb and CPA’s of the world played in Division 1?

The difference is that student athletes that have already established an athletic record are allowed to transfer to a boarding school and be eligible immediately without sitting out one full season.  The member schools of the TSSAA voted to close this loophole by a margin of over 85% and the TSSAA Board of Control voted it down.  Do the members of the Board of Control not understand that they work for the member schools?

LOL ahhh yes CPA. I remember about 10 years ago all d-1 recruited starters rolled over everyone without question. Although LA came as close as anyone in knocking them off with Ramsey, McCoin, etc in the semifinal game.

Here are the statistical FACTS on the U of Webb. In 2020 they had a record of 4 wins and 17 losses. From that, they win the next 3 state championships. Their average playoff margin of victory in 2021 was 22.11 ppg. In 2022, the average playoff margin of victory was 35.88 ppg. This season, the average playoff margin of victory (not counting 1 forfeit playoff win) was 41.75 ppg.

Webb played this year's silver ball winner ( MTCS) 5 times. The average margin of victory was 24 points. The average margin of victory in the 3 playoff games against the silver ball winner was 36.0 ppg. The silver ball winner also has a finalist for Ms. Basketball on their team.

There is no question that Webb has built a juggernaut of a girls basketball program. The school administration,  and it's boosters, have certainly massaged the TSSAA rules to build the most dominate program in the state regardless of Division or Class in the sport. Was it done within the rules of the TSSAA? Depending on one's interpretation of the rules, that answer could be yes or no depending on which side of a triangulated  fence you stand on. (that means there are 3 or more sides you can stand on).

It is my hope, and the hopes of many,  that the loophole is the rulebook will be corrected. The exact solution could be anything from a bump up in class and or players having to sit out a year before being eligable. What has happened over the course of the last three years is not good for sports in general, and  basketball specifically, in our state. The fact is that this situation is just not a private school issue. It would be just as easy for public schools to be negatively impacted by the current rules as it currently is for the small privates.  Just because something is technically legal does not mean it's right.  JMO

Exactly! CPA won multiple State Championships in Boys, Girls Basketball and Football by loading up on talent and competing against  small community schools that had zero chance to match their talent

    • Perhaps it is within the realm of possibility that the comprehension of my discourse, both by yourself and others, may be circumscribed by the boundaries of intellectual acumen. Might one contemplate this notion from such a perspective? Allow me to clarify that my intent does not lean towards disparagement, save for instances where provocation is directed towards myself or the esteemed troupe of the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets who proudly find domicile upon the hallowed grounds of CREEKBANK. In contemplation of the candidates under discussion, it is conjectured that individuals such as Gregory, Woodmore, Vetetoe, Eden, Hackett, and Cothron may emerge as contenders. Regrettably, it is deemed improbable that Shoulders shall express interest in this pursuit. Speculation arises regarding the potential candidacy of BJ West, albeit the implications of familial ties with Lafayette introduce complexities to such a scenario. The enigma of Dr. Clint's deliberations looms large, fraught with the weight of a formidable decision yet to be made.
    • My kind sir, you seem to be lost within the time space continuum having traveled from the 16th Century or you aspire to hide your true intelligence by masking your language with that of the great playwright. You know good and well, your commentary takes your fellow comrades hours to decipher what you are really saying and most of them are likely left questioning whether you have insulted them or find them to be in your favor. I offer you some advice. In my travels through this area of the country, it is best to speak slow and with a twang and you don't annunciate  words to their fullest. Your points will be clear then!  Any names been mentioned around town as Actual Applicants to this job? Seen several post mentioning individuals, but I haven't heard of any of them except for Shoulders. Does he have ties to TC?  Have amy of the other names mentioned ever been in the HC position before?
    • They’re building something special there. They have 4 Varsity games scheduled & 5 JV. They are trying for a 5th Varsity game. Beat them now because they will be good in the future. They are building a football field there I think but the rich pricks of Farragut won’t let them get lights so they are possibly looking at property to build a stadium & field with lights
