So does Gville have a QB controversy now?  That was the OC’S kid that came in

The way I seen that QB change was that DB was getting a lot of pressure on the starting QB. Apparently the other QB is more mobile and better at running with the ball. It worked because it caught DB by surprise and Greeneville scored pretty quickly to tie the game.

This probably won't be very popular but I think its time to move on and give the sophomore the reigns and I'm not taking anything away from #10 he is an outstanding kid

This is why I wish none of the players should ever get on coacht . Whoever daddy is will be here soon , and none of us dads or former players dads like myself should probably ever be on here as well . Ha , I guess that would leave a bunch of mad lady’s fighting about moms boy !

Seems like every team that plays DB has "lucky plays". Let's forget the "late hit" that sustained the DB drive at the end of the first half.

"Well the Tribe would be in the semis if you just didn't count touchdown passes longer than 40 yards!!"

Greeneville was about to steamroll the Injuns had they finished.

And a GREAT win win for Coach Carter last night, excited to see him win again on his field at J Fred in 8 weeks!

You're Drunk.

I may be biased but I saw a lot of good things in Knoxville Friday night. Db went down 14 to 0 on an opening kickoff td and a busted coverage (not surprising). But once our new guys settled down, we played well. Will hurd did a great job at qb in my opinion. I think if we meet Farragut in the playoffs, it may be a different story. I'm taking my Tribe some thing like 28 to 21 or 35 to 28. I may be crazy but I think we have a solid shot. And contrary to popular belief, I think this year's team is far better than last year's. Don't get me wrong, a loss to Greeneville won't catch me off guard haha. But it's gonna be a Big Fight Feel in J Fred tom night. Roll Tribe!

Maybe your not so crazy.

You must have been watching 2 years ago DB Greeneville game. I know I saw a GASSED Devil team in the second quarter. That game doesn’t get stopped, you are probably seeing more huffing and puffing as it goes on. That was physical game and for a school that size they didn’t have the depth that DB has on the OL and DL some of those guys never came off the field. Would have been another really good finish. Too bad

I know what you mean. Maybe they could do a two qb system. But I had it for the #10 cause he waited his turn and he can flat out throw the ball. But I saw him bail out of the pocket wayyyyy too early a lot last night and he doesn’t have the wheels to get away. It appears the #7 does. But we have a very small sample size of what he can do. So we really don’t know

Was moved to 7:30 from 7 because it was the TV game for WCYB. Also there seemed to be 1000 TV timeouts for commercials. This game wasn’t able to be finished 100% because of that. A normal 7 pm kickoff no TV station it would have been over well before

In response to your post stating:

Not true. When the Red Hat walks on the field, it’s a commercial timeout.

The broadcasters did mention there would be hydration breaks around the 6:00 minute mark of each quarter. Since DB scored near the 6 minute mark of the 2nd quarter, they didn’t need the hydration break. Same in 3rd qtr; change of possession negated the need for the 3rd qtr hydration break.
Here are the commercials breaks from the first half:

1st qtr  11:39  GHS score

1st qtr  6:09  scheduled hydration break

1st qtr  3:42 followed GHS punt

1st qtr 0:00  end of 1st qtr

2nd qtr 6:16  DB score

2nd qtr 3:20  GHS injured player

2nd qtr 2:47  DB score

2nd qtr  16.6 seconds  DB timeout

3rd qtr  8:19  GHS punt

3rd qtr  6:05  DB punt

3rd qtr  5:09  GHS score

3rd qtr  2:39  GHS injury

as you can see, there were no “ planned” commercial breaks for media that we don’t see every week with the radio broadcast.

Ah you don’t get it. Every one of those breaks took time. With the TV commercials, it made that time go longer before the team could go back out on the field. That’s what affected us not getting the game finished before the storms. Normal game tempo is much faster than what transpired last night.
radio has to fit their commercials in, when TV is there they control how long in-between drives/timeouts.

Oh yeah, I absolutely get it. I don’t see 1break on that list that wouldn’t have occurred wit or without tv. Unlike college and pro Gabe’s which have a specific time for additional stoppages, these were all normal stoppages.

Those stoppages with TV there lasted significantly longer. Change of possession in high school football is not a long stoppage the only ones that were probably normal length were the 2 injuries and the change of quarter. Every other one added time to the night. It was a 2 hour first half

Let me clarify *change in possession without a TD* isn’t a long transition

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
