Most folks don’t know that Coalfield is a 3A school playing in 1A. They win locally, but they lose as bad as they win locally when playing outside the area they play in. Coaches are on par with other coaches in the area, just the talent level one wound expect from a 3A pool. I hope this clears things up for those outside the region.

How exactly does that work?

Last I checked Coafield is less than 160 enrollment. I don't see how that gets you to 3A.

Personally I think a lot of their success comes from their feeder program. I think they do benefit from picking up a kid or two here and there from local schools but that still doesn't get you anywhere close to a 3A quality team.

Agreed. If they really were a 3A quality team, they wouldn’t lose to outside competition from regions 3/4 and so on

Easily explained. I will try once more. CF dips into a 3A pool. That doesn’t mean they get the best talent from dipping into that pool. It simply means they have that ability to do so. 500 kids vs. 150 kids, u are gonna find some talent that you won’t at 150. 3A pool means 3A school, not in enrollment numbers but in the talent u can find. Why do they lose to 1A programs? Those schools are dipping into another pool in their area, getting better talent and better coaching for sure.  It all makes sense now.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
