Kinda old is what I am, and "holmes" was pretty popular  for a long run. Not where it originated, but was made "cool" by Cheech Marin beginning in the early 70's and booming in the late 70's and early 80's through the Cheech and Chong movie franchise. Everybody that considered themselves street savvy used holmes to address other folk.

  Also wishing good luck to the community getting the new school...sometimes it's bumpy getting started.
