Region 1 1A Friday Night Slate (Sep 13 2024)

Region 1 is staring down the barrel of a region 2 sweep come playoff time.  Coalfield and OZ are the best and Harriman behind them. The 4th place team will come down to midway or Oakdale. Don’t think sunbright or greenback can make any noise.  I’d say the 4 region 1 playoff teams will be Cloudland, North Greene, Cosby, and Unaka.   Jellico and Hancock will be left out. Midway as a  4 seed will be a challenge for Cloudland. The QB can cause problems for the highlanders.  Region 1 is behind the 8 ball in competing with region 2 and have been for a few years. Region 1 number 3 and 4 is in for a mauling facing coalfield and OZ. They are both rock solid and physical. Not sure the region 1 teams can ever be improved enough to make any noise in the playoffs. Outside of Cloudland none of the others make a commitment to getting better on LOS. Overall, region 1 just doesn’t measure up to region 2. Region 1 is just weak in football right now.

You forgot rockwood.  They already beat Midway and will be either 3rd or 4th

I think the 4 playoff teams in Region 1 are: Cland NG Cosby Unaka The order probably comes down to that NG Cosby game

For Region 2 it'll be: OZ coalfield Rockwood and Harriman and that order depends on the OZ CF game and the Rockwood Harriman game

Excuse my ignorance King, I did forget rockwood.  So midway and Oakdale will probably be left out and rockwood in.  Still think region 1 will be hard pressed to get a playoff win. It’s either Cloudland or bust for region 1.  But, it’s like that most years.

Yeah, we've only lost twice in the first round since 2013.  We can usually beat the 4th team in that region but we can't seem to consistently match up with Oz or coalfield.  Cland has some real talent 5th through 8th grade.  They are gonna be tough by the 26 season.

Harriman vs Rockwood will be a huge game, that goes being said if harriman takes care of midway...after the OS harriman game...the front runners ate OS and that orange and black team...bit I think harriman could finish 3rd...I'm still going to day

Cosby looks like the frontrunner to unseat cland.  However, cland is going toe to toe with jc.  We'll see if it can last.

Been up in Tazwell and have only got to see scores, but Cosby looks like they may be even better than I thought. Cloudland and Johnson county looks like a great game, hope I can maybe catch that on FB now. Surprised NG isn’t doing better. Also not 1A but Hampton and HV looks like it’s another great game in carter county tonight.

Cosby is legit! Offense is a well-oiled machine, and ready to make noise. Still think Jellico gets in, as they were simply robbed in their first 3 games.

Cloudland hung tough with JC.  Wound up losing 27-16.  It was encouraging because it was a tight game all the way through.  Cosby massacred unaka 60-6.  With NG in a tight one with cg, I'd say Cosby is the main challenge to cland.  But with the way cland matched with jc, they're still the favorite and could pull an upset against Hampton in 2 weeks

Yeah, I think Cosby will finish second, but I don’t think they are going to match up with the Landers in the long run. That’s a solid Johnson County team they went toe to toe with tonight. North Greene pulled away in the second away tonight.

Our running backs are strong.   We have a talented freshman on the line and 2 of our better players out with injury.  I think it says a lot with 19 players.
