Davis of Westside beat Goodman of MBA 6-5 to win first place at 189 in the Ryan Invitational tonight. Great match with two physical specimens going at it. First time I have seen Davis----helooks good, really ripped and quick. I have not seen the Campbell kid wrestle but if he is as good as the posts say, he and Davis should be a war if they hook up at the state.

Davis did look good this weekend. He must have decided to get into shape this year. He was very physical and intimidating to his opponents. He will do well if he stays in shape. I would like to see him wrestle Greenwood. I was very impressed with Greenwood's recovery this weekend. He lost to the Houston kid and was on his back against the CBHS kid. He fought back very well. I hope Ryan sees Westside again. Quick note Good looked good, also. D2 state will be a good one to watch.

Leavy Davis and Paul Campbell wont be much of a match this year, because tonight Campbell got beat by Drew Helmsteder of Cleveland at they're Dual Meet. Campbell looked rough, he could be awesome if he'd just get in shape. Get em' leavy!

Cooper is pretty good for a first year varsity wrestler. He needs to stay focused because he hasn't even been to a state tournament yet and that's where it all counts. I feel he has a CHANCE to win it all but saying it is much easier than actually doing it. He needs to remember that there have been many wrestlers who were much better than he is at this point in his career that never won a state championship. Again, if he stays focused, I believe Coopers future with the Bears will be good and maybe great. After all he is just a Jr.

    • Congratulations to Huntingdon and Station Camp. Lots of good softball in Tennessee. Alcoa been media favorite last two seasons.
    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • No doubt. ORC a good dude.
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
