Championship games tonight from Humboldt HS:

Girls:

Gibson Co. 58 Peabody 52 -- the score may not be perfectly accurate, but the result is. Very good girls basketball game with GC too tough down the stretch. Freshman for the Lady Pioneers (Dudley) was a real treat. Very aggressive offensive player with soft touch.

Boys:

Humboldt 80 Milan 67 -- this is not a typo. Milan jumped out early dominating the offensive glass. After the 1st quarter, the game belonged to the Vikings, however. Senior Charles Dotson scored 21 points and pulled down 18 rebounds, after grabbing 19 the night before against Peabody. This kid is not on anyone's radar, but should be. 6'4" and plays center, but brought the ball down the floor and really took the game over. Freshman Kelsey Rose also helped with 18 of his own. After a great game against Gibson Co. the night before, Milan's Kyle Shannon (Sr.) never got it going against a very athletic young bunch from Humboldt.

Pretty much agree. Did not watch but a 1/4 of the girls, but Russell is hard to beat in a close game.

Milan boys came out up 23-19 after the 1st and got up 10 mid-way thru the 2nd 30-20. The Dotson kid for Humboldt was in foul trouble with 3 and freshman K. Rose got some easy baskets. Dotson took Cagle outside and drove by him and scored or dished @ will. It looked like Milan became satisfied after getting up 10. Humboldt tied it 32-32 and it was close until the last couple of minutes, Milan subbed and the score spread. Looked like Humboldt just wanted it more. Milan was hurt that Rod Smith has not been with the team for a week. He has been out of town. Milan missed several point blank shots that could have meant the difference.
