The mans name was Bob Davis and as of Sunday Morning was in stable condition. What more could be said of the great sportmanship of both teams! They meet midcourt to have prayer for everyone involved. This should make all the parents, coaches and fans very proud. Sometimes we all forget what is more important than who won the game. Also great job to all the people who steped in and saved this mans life! If you were there I think you had to have felt something. Maybe you could even say it was eye opening. Once again GREAT JOB White co. and Upperman boys you all are a great example of fine young men.

My hats off to the White County coaches.. I know it was a hard thing to witness, they seemed to have the players interest in heart by not continuing the ball game. It is a sad day when the facts of true life and death are faced but I think both teams responded like true men!! Coaches and the players.

I just want to say thank you guys... you have made me realize it is just a game and you have given me so much excitement over the last few games!! Keep up the good no I'm sorry great work!! You're district win is coming! And to Coach Slatten and Coach Dotson you guys are doing a heck of job.

Go Warriors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;):):):)

Saturday nights game was a wonderfull example of how powerfull prayer and teamwork can be. To see both teams together in a huddle in the middle of the floor praying, while both fan sides joined in to help this man pray for his life was truely amazing. I have been to many games and have never seen such an awsome display of kindness. It definately put the game into perspective.

After all the negative things being written about the White County team, it is so nice to see something nice. Both teams were wonderful and according to the post previously Mr. Davis is in stable condition. I hope so. I know many people didn't have much hope for a recovery when they left with him. I am assured by emergency personnel that the biggest thing going for Mr. Davis was that emergency life support was given immediately. The paramedics, doctors and everybody else were fantastic. Most people may not have noticed but the White County team had prayer in just a small group long before they ever suspended the game. It was so great to see those boys with heads bowed and concern on their face. Upperman and White County were class acts Saturday night and I for one say keep it up guys. Not everything is based on winning. Like the announcer stated when they suspended the game "Go home and spend time with your families" and I hope everyone did.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
