Eaglettes explode on Oakland

Shelbyville's Eaglettes made a statement with a 95-20 blowout over visiting Oakland in their Region 4-AAA opener. Evidently, revenge from last year's region semifinal loss to Oakland was the chief motivating factor tonight. Alex Fuller had 30 and Ashleigh Newman had 24 for Shelbyville. The Eaglettes had 31 points in the 4th quarter and Oakland only had 20 the entire game. I wouldn't want any part of the Eaglettes in the tournaments. They are playing unbelievable! Shelbyville takes on district rival Lawrence County at 4:00 Wednesday afternoon at the Murphy Center in the region semis.

It was the subs who scored most of the 31 pts in the 4th because the starters were sitting down by then! Way to go Eaglettes!!! All the way to STATE!!!!

Need to make one small adjustment concerning the semis for Shelbyville and Lawrenceburg. The game will be the third game of the night, which will start around 7:00pm. Since Riverdale is the official host of the region, their district will play the first game at 4:00, which will be Cookeville and Riverdale. Talked to Coach Burt from Riverdale after the SCHS game tonight and he said this is the way it would be. Thanks.

You can't ask your subs to stop playing. It is up to the other team to play defense. It is not Shelbyville's fault that the subs kept scoring.

The little man lived up to his reputation, he is a very "little man". He left his starters in until 4 minutes in the 4th quarter. At this time Oakland had both Hayes and Webb on the bench and was playing her subs. Riddle has been on the bench for the last 12 games with injury. Shelbyville's subs scored a total of 12 points against a team that was down by 60 points and were just trying to get the game over with.

I think this was a good lesson for the girls on the Oakland team. In the real world, there are people who have no class, they can be as ruthless and arrogant as they want as long as they are winning. And some people will do anything to win, no matter how low, because everyone loves a winner. So, get over it, and work harder to improve so that when you do win, the victory (2002) is SOOOOOOOO much sweeter!!!!!!!!

What good does a win like this do to prepare your starters for a stronger opponent? Nothing!!!! What comes aroung goes around, maybe not that bad but this is absolutely ridiculous.

Whining, Whining, Whining....Get over it. Oakland lost to a better team. Shelbyville could have played their Freshman last night and beat Oakland. Everyone knows Oakland is having problems and some of their parents said their girls were ready for the season to be over with so they could go on and play somewhere else! For the record, Shelbyville's starters were out of the game before Webb and Hayes came off the floor. I was there. Shelbyville took all the smack Oakland fans and players dished out last year when Oakland beat Shelbyville. Oakland will just have to sit back and take theirs!!!

I agree with letgo. All the subs did was to continue what they learn in practice and thats playing hard. Its oaklands job to keep them from scoring. Alex Fuller was out in the 3rd qtr. Ashleigh Newman (who was darn near knocked out by a flagrant elbow that barely missed) was out early in the 4th. This should be a lesson to Oakland to stop playing that cupcake schedule. The regular season is supposed to prepare you for the tournaments. Shelbyville is a tournament ready team, Oaklnad was not. Also get some discipline on that team.

Fyi Big Money...there are only two graduates-so it will basically be the same team next year. The subs did play-and played well, I might say!!!
