I don't have any problem with Memphis. But I like East TN just fine, thank you very much, I'll stay here, you can stay there. No more discussions from me on your Big City Town. We can make a quick gettaway to other states just like you can, only our neighbors are NC, VA & KY, not Miss or Ark.

Anyway, let's play BBall. This is a long wait, too long IMO. Good thing we have College Conference Tournaments to get us through.

Godd luck to the Memphis Tigers. Good luck the the UT Vols.

Way to go East TN State University, your in the big dance.

Roll Tribe Roll

Giddy Up!! :)

Perfect, Firefly!!

My favorite one though, was, "Balls, your nuts" That was so dang funny. You have to question the logic behind this statement:

"I prefer Memphis to Knoxville."

That says it all right there. That's what I was getting at. Memphonians (lol) are for the most part anti-Tennessee. Hates Orange, they usually cheer against the VOLS (sinful) and they preffer Ole Miss (what a joke) and Arkansas (Nolan Richardson (gone but not forgotten) Houston Nutt, Bill Clinton - no need to say any more) to the VOLS (again, sinful).

Sorry Art, but Knoxville might be one of the worst places that I have ever been to in my life. I love UT and all of that, but whoever designed KNoxville was not smart. Bristol might be the only place that is worse.

Anyway, go DB, guys like me are pulling harder for you than anyone since I was one game away from the state twice.

c'mon DBIndian99...

You KNOW that JC is worse than Bristol. I myself do not find the city of Bristol (Tennessee or Virginia) that attractive, but JC is by far worse...

Good luck East TN teams (which just so happens to include DB and Elizabethton)...did anyone notice that I left Greeneville off that list? :o

Art,

I'm a republican, meaning I don't like Clinton...I go to UT, meaning I like UT more then I like Memphis and Ole Miss.

Your generalization does not hold true for everyone.

My parents obviously liked UT more then Memphis or Ole Miss since they are paying for me to go to UT :o

there are also a very good amount of UT fans in the city of Memphis, definitely more UT fans in Memphis then Arkansas fans, and although there might be more Ole Miss fans in Memphis...its only 50 miles away as opposed to 6 hours away to Knoxville...what do you want from people.

OK - The Ill. and Mich. State Lines are closer than Memphis from Kingsport. It's just that Memphis is such a heck hole(that's not my words, but people who HAD to live there), that anybody would rather drive the extra 200 miles be in Chicago than Memphis. And, from what I have heard, the people in Memphis consider themselves more Ark. or Miss than TN.

No, the IL-Mich. State line can't be closer than Memphis if Chicago isn't closer to Memphis. Get a map.

But that's not my main problem with your post. Actually, not even my second-biggest problem. Let's take these in inverse order here. 2) We pay our sales taxes to Nashville, we're in Tennessee. Our market includes Arkansas and Mississippi, so our media covers them too, but we consider ourselves Tennesseans.

1) Who are you to call Memphis a heck hole? Some of us like where we live. I'm not slamming Kingsport. I've been through the area, I think it's a really pretty area, I don't think it'd be a bad place to live. But given the choice between Memphis and Kingsport, you're darn right I'm gonna stay here.

THEN WHY DID YOU CALL IT A heck HOLE?!?!?!?!?

No, we generally prefer the TIGERS and cheer against the Vols. That said, there's a huge UT following in Memphis as well. Due to our proximity to Arkansas and Mississippi, a lot of people move here from those states and stay Arkansas and Ole Miss fans.

And no, not all of Memphis likes Bill Clinton. I'm with those who didn't. But let's ignore politics.

Quit dropping ad hominems on the city when you run out of legitimate arguments.

Opperman...

In Art's defense, it looks like he's referring to someone that he knows' use of hellhole when describing living in Memphis...

I've been in Memphis a few times. I wouldn't call it a hellhole, I just wouldn't want to live there because I prefer the quite of the country. I'm sure it's a great place to live, based on your preference of scenery.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
