Who has the better teams? which one will come out on top of the region? I'll take my friends at Blackman out of 7 and either shelbyville or tullahoma from 8.

Right now Shelbyville is undefeated in district and Columbia is 3-1-1. Columbia started the season slow but are playing real well. We have beaten Franklin co. Tullahoma and Coffee Co. We play Shelbyville Tuesday night.

Right now Shelbyville is the team to beat. Maybe that will change after Tuesday. I definitely think Blackman is the best team in District 7, with Riverdale right behind them.

I'd have to say that District 8 is the stronger of the two districts. However, I couldn't say who will win out of that district. Shelbyville appears to be the top team, but I share yankee's optimism that other teams are stepping up and won't make it easy for anyone to dominate the district. The battle for the district 8 title will not be easy, and the winner, I predict, will eventually find themselves playing in Memphis.

Riverdale and Blackman are real tough teams. We (Columbia) lost to both of them earlier in the year 4-1 and 4-0 respectively. We were missing alot of players due to injuries and basketball committments then. We are healthy now and would like to think we could give them a better game if we get a chance to play them again. Time will tell for everybody. Good luck to all.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
