This is because the elite level wrestler is so much better conditioned (maybe the best conditioned athletes in the world) than the elite level football player. If you only place the front third or so of your foot on the next upward step, it's a very good way to strengthen your calf muscles and lengthen your running stride. Also, it could increase your vertical leap. When going down make sure that you plant the feet toe first. Heel first causes too much shock stress on the rest of the frame. The new aluminum constructions flex too much with a lot of bodies on them. It may be better to run very steep hills.
