Siegel High Football Stadium

Has anyone heard how the stadium issue has played out for the new school in Murfreesboro. I talked to a Coffee County parent of one of the players today, and he said that right now they don't have anywhere to play the opening game against C.C. which is supposed to be a home game for Siegel. Do I understand right that the neighbors surrounding the school protested about building a football stadium so close to their houses?

Did these people not realize that when you built a high school that there would also be a football stadium built there also?

Yes, ridiculous amounts of time and money have been lost in these neighbors' quest against the stadium. All has been resolved, and the stadium will be started. Unfortunately, not in time for the this season. All of Siegal's home games will be played at MTSU this year. This will continue to cost everyone in the long run.....players, coaches, fans, booster club, taxpayers........

I agree with the superintendent that the cost is too much for them to play at MTSU. If I remember Blackman had to play at other schools until their stadium was built. What is good enough for them should be good enough for Siegel.

I am basing what I said on an article about David Watson that I read yesterday in which he stated that games will be played at MTSU. This article was in print yesterday, but the superintendent could have put an end to it since then. I think it would be a shame for all that money...I heard $19,000.....to be wasted in order to give the Stars their own place. ( not to mention for the county schools to absorb the court costs for the stadium battle too!) I think Siegel has gotten enough special treatment as is.

Thank for the replies guys, but we still don't know for sure then whether or not the super. vetoed the idea of playing at MTSU or not.

I agree with you leadoff- Did these people not know that if there was a school that there would also be a football stadium. If they were opposed to that, why did they wait until they started building the stadium to protest? They should have started protesting as soon as they announced they were going to build the school there.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
