Actually.... Memphis was part of the Miss. Delta not too long ago ....then Mississippi Delta aka .. Elvis, moved to Memphis and a whole lotta shakin' was goin' on. Elvis had the fastest hips in Memphis and was sure to lead his Memphis HS team to the Clinic Bowl. But his team changed offenses and became a passing team thus Elvis quit went back to the Delta and sang "Kentucky Rain" and others...and made some money...but he never learned Rocky Top and that is why we are giving back west Tn......hhhmm

pennyplay, the forum was about West Tennessee getting recognition, not a public/private debate. Regardless of how much whining publics do about privates, as long as they are competing, the winning teams will get the press. That was my point. Besides, South Pittsburg is public and won 2 state titles despite the "great disadvantage", and have a great chance this year. Kudos to them - they obviously live in reality and do what it takes rather than whining that the world isn't fair.

Bluefan...it is the coaching level and discipline in the rest of Tn. Besides you all missed your chance with Elvis

the reason west,tn schools don't win many state titles is because week in and week out our schools knock the crap out of each other,by the time playoffs roll around our kids are wore out.down here in west,tn u have some of the hardest hitting teams and we can line up with anyone of the east and middle tn schools and take it to them.2a and 3a schools in west,tn have to come ready to play or any given friday night upsets will occur ask lexington about chester co.

Memphis has a ton of athletes....But Memphis lacks money which in turn leads to a lack of quality equipment,fields, and coaching.

i think if u get private schools out of single A and put them with people of there

own ablity u will see better teams

..Why in the heck don't we get like any statewide news or anything. We have Christian Brothers and Collierville, both contenders in Hockey, Wrestling, and Football, and Germantown just for Football. It seems like you only hear of "Gallatin" or "MBA"...Really? I dont care for either or. We, Collierville, beat Gallatin, but who is still ranked higher? Gallatin. Hmm..do I see favorism here? Maybe..But ya know what? Ya we dont got really any state contenders, but at least we got spirit, not some lil preppy punks.
