Coalfield vs. Greenback

A huge game for both teams next Friday at Coalfield. Greenback comes in as defending champs and it's Coalfield's homecoming. The Yellow Jackets have looked forward to this one all season and NOW IT'S ON, brothers! As Coach "Rochelle" said in his WECO interview tonight, it didn't take long after the victory at Sunbright for the Jacket players to begin turning their attention to the Cherokees. By the way rochelle, it was good to see Coalfield take a knee in the final seconds tonight rather than trying to push the ball in from the one yard line while leading 21-7. A classy call by the coaching staff and the right one to make, so we gotta give you guys some credit for that and for having the defense ready for the Tigers tonight.

Greenback's margin of victory over Midway tonight certainly caught my attention, but I have no doubt that the Jackets will be well prepared, well motivated, and well physically (let's hope!) to battle for the driver's seat of the district in seven days!

Thanks Ro. We really played well on defense tonight. We ran the ball well too. Silvey really stepped up tonight. We will have to raise the game to an entirely new level for next week. As for not scoring at the end, Jason was a Jacket at one time. We still love him even though he wears another color now. No need to score the last one when there is no time left on the clock.

Big game in C-Town next week, and of course, it will be the Moragn County News Game of the Week. Can't wait to be there. Should be a great game.

Impressed with the Defense at Sunbright by the Jackets. They did exactly what was needed. Good start for the Cherokee bunch, gonna need that and a little more.

Brandon Davis introduced himself to Miles Chaney at one point and might do the same to James. RyanO had a good game, especially after illness. And these are the young kids. Minor injuries? Hope only minor, gonna need all the toops. Homecoming with lots of out of town natives coming to see the revival of Jacket football. If you wear orange and black, it's tradition, you owe yourself and your community total commitment. Seen nothing less all year, expect nothing more. GO JACKETS!!!!!!!! 21-14

Let me be the first to say, "That ain't gonna happen!" Either team may win, but I'm just not seeing how you could pick the Cherokees to come to C'town and win by three touchdowns on homecoming night. Did you bump your head?

I liked the way Greenback looked when I saw them. From what I hear about Coalfield, they should compete nicely. However, think I will take Greeback by 10.

Homefield advantage; homecoming night; homecoming weekend for the whole community with several alumni at the game; and a game the Yellow Jackets have been looking forward to all season; and yet some people are picking Greenback to win by anywhere from 10 points to 3 touchdowns to 5 touchdowns (see the other Greenback vs. Coalfield thread---i.e. GovMan's prediction)!!!

I just ain't seeing it that way, Ethel!

the key to this game for Coalfield, is intensity. if Coalfield can be as intense as they ever have been on defense, this game will be a good one. my only thought is that ive heard that Coalfields defense seems to take plays off and thats not gonna work with weapons such as Helton, James and Way against you.
