I would have to disagree . Maryville was extremely fortunate to beat Hillsboro last year after some great coaching gambles paid off for Maryville in the second half. Hillsboro is a better team this year and if they do not turn the ball over look for them to take the title by 2 TD regardless who they play.

Maryville might get beat this year, but don't even try to sell them out for last years championship. There was a whole lot more than luck involved in beating Hillsboro. Not only were the "trick" plays executed perfectly, but Maryville wore Hillsboro down physically. That is why Maryville won. Coaching AND conditioning.

As far as this year goes, I don't think anyone unexpected will come out of the East. Maryville, Cleveland, MoWest, and Knox Central all have legitimate shots.

Upsets - Even though Cleveland has a legit chance based on their record, I think Knox west will upset them first round. Chatt Central will be the only region 4 school to make it to round two. MoWest will dominate until round four, as usual.

I have no idea what will happen in the west. Hillsboro vs. Maryville round III is a possibility. Hillsboro certainly has the motivation.

the champion is going to be someone we would never guess!!!

I hope your right. Region 7 champion JCM,after a slump earlier this year, made some midseason changes and has been playing their best ball of the season the last few weeks. No one gives them a chance. Maybe the Cougars can continue to get better and surprise a few folks.

    • One final thought. Coach Keith claims he was not aware of the player's failing grades. I won't comment on that, just to say this, IF he did not, whose job was it to see that this kid did not play ball at CHS? That person should be looking for a job and they might be, I don't know.
    • They have fired the principal, 2 teachers, at least 1 counsellor and 1 coach so far. I don't see it from my view in Oak Ridge as a coach thing, he  was just implicated in asking 1 teacher to  fix 1 kid's grades.   In our local media(Clinton and Oak Ridge)the principal is who is the originator and pusher of the fraud. The others are peripheral. The coach isn't even the big story, just here on a sports site.  The media view is the principal did it to cause CHS to be seen as excellent by the state. He committed fraud to do that so he might spend a little time in jail IF that is valid.
    • And from coach himself, he wasn’t told he was let go because of the ineligible player.    that’s just what the schools needed to happen to fit their bull
    • Wish it was made clear before a coach gets let go or not retained instead of being sold as the reason he was in trouble. I was told the kids who got grades changed, 97% or better were non athletes but the coach is taking all the heat so the schools can pretend it wasn’t their job to know. heck, what do you think could happen when you hire husband and wife as head principal and head guidance….   that’s not being said though…
    • Hmmmmm……doe dee doe doe.  Last time I came up there to watch my pirates one of those guys in that pickup trucks flattened the tires on the lawnmower.  This is payback.  You can bet the lawnmower on that.
