Ba-CBHS

BA got lucky against MBA... they won't be so lucky in Memphis next week... the Eagles won't be able to stop Corey Mills just like they couldn't the first time... your final will be CBHS and MBA...

Lucky? Regardless of whether you believe BA should have won, you have to admit that we played neck and neck with MBA, the most balanced, versatile offense in the state. Corey Mills is a great player, but if we competed with MBA don't you think we can compete with him? The CBHS offensive scheme will be much easier to predict, also. They're a running team who throws occasionally, whereas MBA does it all. BA has the defensive skill and depth to stop a running attack they know is coming at them.

I have no doubt Brentwood Academy can win this game at Christian Brothers...none whatsoever. Will they? That's a different question, but I think BA fans will be pleased with the answer if the Eagles stay focused in Memphis. Christian Brothers is the favorite by virtue of their previous win over BA, but I think the Eagles will take the rematch.

Sportsguy, you are an excellent writer and I appreciate and admire your commitment to high school athletics; as a result, I am disappointed that you label BA's win as "lucky." Seems like a heady journalist like yourself would be more perceptive.

I think if BA avoids the turnovers, they will win. CBHS far and away leads the league in turnover ratio (I think they are +16) and will make you pay if you don't hold on to the ball, as they proved in Brentwood earlier in the season. Plus, as we all know, it's difficult to beat a team twice in the same season.

I'll say BA in a close one: BA 20, CBHS 14.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
